I’m looking for historical horror recommendations – maybe something set in the 1700-1800s? But I’m down for anything, really.

I’m not sure about this one, but I’m sure there are true crime books of H.H. Holmes or Jack the Ripper.

One of my all time favourites! I was so engrossed in reading a suspenseful chapter that I kept reading in class… My art teacher took it away from me and only gave it back a couple of days later! Traumatizing experience! ?

The Devil in the White City set in late 1800s about the serial killer during the world’s fair in Chicago, with much interesting detail about the development of the fair, as well.

I loved this one. Looks like it’s being made into a movie.

Definitely Perfume by Patrick Suskind. Set in 18th century France, its an unsettling story about a serial killer. Different.

I really like Meaning of Night by Micheal Cox (it is a series). It is similar to Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. When you look that one up on GoodReads there are a few others that are similar listed.

Another one that isn’t necessarily horror, but murder mystery is Murder as a Fine Art by David Morrell. (*Can you tell I kind of like this genre)
