The other question is, how come all her other books are nowhere near as good as this one?! Based on this one book I have doggedly read them all except the one about American economics. I still regularly check to see if she has written anything new, even though the writing is pretty much on the wall now! That’s how good this book is.

1

Is it a true story?! Hubby asked the same question! Well we watched the film (I was in floods of tears at the end) but the film missed out soooooo much. And hubby said it was a shit film…..

I think I read this first a year or so after it came out in 2003, so about 2005, when my five boys were aged 10 to nought. 14 years later I know where I am on the central premise.

@Samantha I thought he was evil too. He had traits of a psychopath. I know this opinion divides people. I thought the book was absolutely brilliant. Incredibly disturbing. I was haunted by the images of the little sister and the father.
