YES. I really disliked the book at first and now I will call it a favorite.
No
No. Unpopular opinion but I really disliked it.
I felt the same, but pushed thru and I fell in love!!!
Yes!!!! Took me a little while too but ended up absolutely adoring and highly recommend!
I loved it.
The ending made it worth pushing through
I did not like it
I had no expectations and ended up liking it. I did feel like it could have used a bit more editing, however.
Loved it
No
Yes! It took a little bit to get going.
Nope.
Loved the whole thing
Yes, I loved it
I did not finish
I had read a few of your posts so I expected it to start a bit slow. I’m halfway in and enjoying it so far. She’s quirky and I’m so enjoying it!
Anyone else picture Raymond to look like Chris O’Dowds character on the IT Crowd?
Yes!

I thought it started out kind of slow too, but I really liked it
Yes! You will miss her when the book is over!
Yes!!!!
Yes it is really good at end
I liked it, I didn’t at first when I was reading it…then I swapped it out to listen instead and loved it
Yes!
Yes, she is NOT completely fine lol
Ugh I really hated it.
She grows on you. Give it time! I ended up really rooting for her

Yes…
I didn’t
Yes
Yes!!
Keep reading, it gets better and a bit surprising. I thought I knew where it was headed.
Meh. I didn’t care for it.
Yes
Yes
Ugh. I couldn’t finish it.
I didn’t love it but I can’t put down a book. It doesn’t go as expected but the pace doesn’t pick up much either
Yes! I had a hard time too. Her character made me uncomfortable but it’s worth it. Keep reading. It just takes a while.
Keep with it!
Yes!
Yes! Stick with it! It’s so worth it!
Turned out so good. Keep going!!!
The first half took forever for me to get through, but I’m glad I stuck it out. It really picked up just before the halfway point.
If you are looking for light romance, this may not be the book for you. If you want to get a glimpse into how someone who is different from you might experience things then this could be an interesting and insightful read.
Personally, I loved this book, and how openly awkward Eleanor was. Then I felt empathy as I learned more of her backstory. It’s hard to say much without introducing spoilers, but to me this book was great and I will definitely re-read it. And try to remember that some people’s journey is different
Be patient. It’s worth it!
Be patient. It’s worth it!
Wasn’t a fan. But I understand not wanting to quit a book!
nah
It was kind of a rough read but overall enjoyable. I finished it.
Wasn’t sure at first, but then loved it.
Don’t bother.
I did not
I felt the same way. I stuck it out and was glad I did
Nope. It doesn’t get any better.
I feel the same. Everyone else seemed to love it. I can’t get interested.
Yes do!
I didn’t
Nope ??
I finished it, but it took me 31 chapters to get into it. I had to finish since so many people recommended it
It took me over half way to get into it. I would have quit but it was a hot topic here….so I kept reading. Not my favorite.
I loved it! It was so funny!
Yes!!! It’s worth it in the end.
Nah.
nope
I ended up liking it a lot but I generally think life is too short to read books you’re not into.
It took me a loooong time to get into, but in the end I loved it.
Yes!
It gets better!
Yes!
I was feeling the same way yesterday but I have started to get more into it.
Yes
It helped me a lot to visualize Eleanor as Amy Farrafowler from Big Bang Theory. (Someone else mentioned that…and it made it funny to me that way) I couldn’t identify with Eleanor’s character.
Srsly, yes.
Not a fan – can’t recommend it. I only finished it because I hoped it would get better – it didn’t.
Omg I loved it. Her triumph over her past was great. Damaged and destined to be that lonely desperate alcoholic. To break out of that was uplifting. If you have empathy for that situation-you won’t be bored with her growth. But you have to feel her bored depressing life for the payoff! ❤️
I felt the same way, but hang in there.. she is definitely a character!!
Yes
Hmmm. . . his work is a little different-had I not read “A Man Called Ove” first, I’m not sure if I would have liked this one as much . . . Tough call!
He did not write Eleanor Oliphant. But I agree it’s in the same sort of genre. Love Ove
I hated it. I was beginning to think that people were taking drugs every time they recommended it. Then it suddenly changes and you’ll be glad you stuck with it. Turned out to be one of my favorites.
Yes… She’s insufferable at the beginning but her growth is totally worth it!
I didnt.
Nope
Yes. Someone suggested picturing her as Amy Farrah Faller from Big Bang Theory and I instantly changed my perception of Elinor.
Yes
Yep, keep going!
