I had no expectations and ended up liking it. I did feel like it could have used a bit more editing, however.

I had read a few of your posts so I expected it to start a bit slow. I’m halfway in and enjoying it so far. She’s quirky and I’m so enjoying it!

Anyone else picture Raymond to look like Chris O’Dowds character on the IT Crowd?

I didn’t love it but I can’t put down a book. It doesn’t go as expected but the pace doesn’t pick up much either

The first half took forever for me to get through, but I’m glad I stuck it out. It really picked up just before the halfway point.

If you are looking for light romance, this may not be the book for you. If you want to get a glimpse into how someone who is different from you might experience things then this could be an interesting and insightful read.

Personally, I loved this book, and how openly awkward Eleanor was. Then I felt empathy as I learned more of her backstory. It’s hard to say much without introducing spoilers, but to me this book was great and I will definitely re-read it. And try to remember that some people’s journey is different

It helped me a lot to visualize Eleanor as Amy Farrafowler from Big Bang Theory. (Someone else mentioned that…and it made it funny to me that way) I couldn’t identify with Eleanor’s character.

Omg I loved it. Her triumph over her past was great. Damaged and destined to be that lonely desperate alcoholic. To break out of that was uplifting. If you have empathy for that situation-you won’t be bored with her growth. But you have to feel her bored depressing life for the payoff! ❤️

Hmmm. . . his work is a little different-had I not read “A Man Called Ove” first, I’m not sure if I would have liked this one as much . . . Tough call!

He did not write Eleanor Oliphant. But I agree it’s in the same sort of genre. Love Ove

I hated it. I was beginning to think that people were taking drugs every time they recommended it. Then it suddenly changes and you’ll be glad you stuck with it. Turned out to be one of my favorites.
