Yeah Lydia deserves a slap, when she’s being patronising to her sisters & they are thinking “yeah, whatever” (probably)?

OMG Yes!!!

Paula

@Paula sorry I sound such an angry person, Corrine was the worse! I thought I would feel sorry for her when I read the prequel ‘Garden of Shadows’, all it showed was Corrine didn’t learn from her past & still saw herself as a princess.?

2
Leigh

All throughout the book she couldn’t figure out why her children were so ungrateful. She was so manipulative!

2
Paula

@Leigh she really was, she was so horrible, every time she lied to them, I got more annoyed. *Spoiler* ~ what she did with the wee boy’s body was awful, her own son but her greed was more important?

0
Leigh

Poor Cory. On the bright side I think that’s what drove her insane and got her locked up in the loony bin where she belonged

1
Paula

@Leigh totally?

0
Amber

Alec from The Mortal Instruments. Not realizing how much Magnus Bane liked him.

I always thought that Pansy Parkinson should have given Hermione a good whack upside the head, maybe then she’ll chill a little.

I agree about Angel Clare, Susan (but he was rather nice eye-candy in the 2008 BBC adaptation! 😉 <3 )

I didn’t like Elena in ‘Bitten’ by Kelley Armstrong, just something about her, she was kind of slap worthy, I changed my mind reading the second book, ‘Stolen’ & I’ve liked her since then.?

Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye. Ugh – what a phony!

Paula

Yip I can’t stand ‘The Catcher in the Rye’, it was only read by a specific English class at the school I attended, so there was this whole elitist thing going on with students who were in the class looking down at students who weren’t, I eventually read the book after I left school & thought to myself “really? What a pretentious brat Holden is”? sorry for going on Janet?

2
Jänet

No need to apologise Paula. I didn’t have to read it at school either and I couldn’t understand the attraction of it! X

Tiffany

Julia Jarmond from Sarah’s Key. I know that a lot of people love the character, but I reserve an intense hatred for anyone that goes to another country and complains about how the culture and traditions are different than the country they left behind. I also reserve an intense hatred for any woman who is weak and allows herself to be stomped over. Hell, ditch the slap… let’s get a bus and run Julia Jarmond over. *rants. rants. rants*

I didn’t care for her either, I found her whiny and annoying

1
Tiffany

@Paula She was so whiny and annoying! As much as I don’t like to admit it because of what the book is about, I felt that Julia ruined the book for me. If she remained more focused on finding out who Sarah was and didn’t obsess about herself, I would have found the book more enjoyable. The French edition isn’t any different, either. Julia is still a whiny brat who complains about everything and everyone. Have you read any of the other works by this author? Tatiana de Rosnay does a lot better in ‘The House I Loved’. The main character is very true to her times, and doesn’t whine about it at all. Though, the one thing that I find annoying is that everyone who loves Julia Jarmond hates this book.

2
PaulaQuestion author

@Tiffany I have The House I Loved but haven’t read it yet. *spoiler alert* no wonder her husband was cheating ?

1
Tiffany

@Paula Lol. I hated that woman with a passion! She isn’t even real but there are women that are like her. ?

Reading Two by Two (Nicolas Sparks) and want to slap Vivian.

The main character from ‘Eat Pray Love’ I couldn’t handle her constant complaining about how her life was so great but not great enough for her, so she had to go on a voyage of discovery which was kind of great but not that great?

@Paula ?? she complains about her big bathroom & I’m like “I don’t have a window in my bathroom” I know it’s not the worse thing in the world but I miss having a window☺️

Everyone in Gone Girl. Husband for being an idiot. Wife for being evil. The patsy guy for being an idiot. Her enabling idiot folks. And the stupid cops for not having a clue. And everyone in the end. Also all the people in charge of making this a movie of all these unlikable, awful people. Sorry, I really loathed this book.
