I liked ‘finding me’ by Michelle knight. She was one of the girls held captive for 11 years by Ariel Castro. It made me realise that even in our darkest days, there is always someone else experiencing something worse. It makes you appreciate the small things in life like having showers, access to food/water / pens and paper etc.

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber. I’ve never got round to The Celestine Prophecy but think that’s a biggie. Would be interested to hear thoughts if anyone’s read this.

Has anyone noticed that these books are all quite gloomy in the main. Anyone got any cheery heartwarming suggestions?

What’s that one about that chap that spends weekend with God Jesus and Holy Spirit? The shack or something? I adored that one.

Ditto Necessary Lies, Diane Chaimberlaine. Its based on true eugenics programmes which sadly used to take place… real moral/ethical issues….

Although it’s a bit naff, Imzadi by Peter David was a real life changer for me. Although it is fantasy sci-fi it led me down so many new paths, I shall never forget it 🙂
