Under the Skin by Michel Faber
I liked ‘finding me’ by Michelle knight. She was one of the girls held captive for 11 years by Ariel Castro. It made me realise that even in our darkest days, there is always someone else experiencing something worse. It makes you appreciate the small things in life like having showers, access to food/water / pens and paper etc.
The Shack
Great question! Following.
Extremely loud, incredibly close and the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime
Love, In English – Karina Halle and Forbidden- Tabitha Suzuma
Samurai’s Garden
The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom (a nice short read)
We are All Beside Ourselves by Karen Jay Fowler
My stroke of Insight – true story
“We are all completely beside Ourselves” brilliant and definitely made me re-think a lot of issues!
The Art of Hearing Heartbeats and The Well Tempered Heart.
“Jonothan Livingstone Seagull” by Richard Bach … … or “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac

The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber. I’ve never got round to The Celestine Prophecy but think that’s a biggie. Would be interested to hear thoughts if anyone’s read this.

Has anyone noticed that these books are all quite gloomy in the main. Anyone got any cheery heartwarming suggestions?
Stoner by John Williams, Empress Orchid by Anchee Min, A Thousand Splendid Suns and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
What’s that one about that chap that spends weekend with God Jesus and Holy Spirit? The shack or something? I adored that one.

The Road Home by Rose Tremain
Light between oceans. Lots of moral issues.

The first 15 lives of harry august a novel but challenges the notions of fate and time
How about Oranges and Sunshine about the settling of Australia with orphans who really were not. Unsettling and thought provoking.
