I just finished it and really liked it. I admit it took a little adjustment to read through many, shifting points of view. But I thought it was a lovely story about death, love, relationships and regrets. But–everyone responds differently to different books. I have abandoned a number of books that were/are extremely popular.
My problem with it is that I love all things Lincoln and all of the cited source material for the first hand accounts made me want to go and get all of those books!
Absolutely couldn’t take it! First book I can remember stopping midway. Reading for my book club and I finally admitted to others I couldn’t finish it and they all felt the same so we are having a Girls Night Out Thurs. instead of coming to my house forBook Club!
I love books written in the epistolary format. I did listen to the audiobook and it was a little hard to understand at first, but early on, I realized what was happening and got to know some of the characters in the cemetery and really enjoyed it.
I gave up on it. It wasn’t a book, just a bunch of sh blurbs like a twitter feed or something. Too distrac and hard to follow. I checked it out as an Ebola. Perhaps it might be easier to follow in a paper format.
Agree. Very Bizarre-O. The sad part is I was really looking forward to reading this book and parts of the book were very well written. I just couldn’t buy into all the ghosts talking.
I tried twice…once before I knew the format of the book, then I looked at the book in a store and I figured I would be able to get it…tried the audio again…nope
I couldn’t either. ?
Same with me.
Same here…. left in the middle
What seems to be the trouble?
It is anthology with many switching perspectives. It has an interesting premise and I now know what the Bardo means.
So is all the fuss about the technique or does he have something to say or something to show?
I believe all the fuss is due to the unique writing style. Once, I did some research, I found it worthwhile.
Whoa glad to hear…was this close to buying it as an audio book. What didn’t you like? And it comes highly recommended on audible
It’s unique.
Me too.
Considering abandoning it. What is the point?
Loved it!!
Returned it. I live in Syracuse where the author teaches. He gave the best commencement speech a couple years ago.
I loved it!!
First, Wiki the Bardo.
I did and watched an interview of the author about the book. Just not a pleasant read for myself.
Gotcha. Connie Willis’s Lincoln’s Dreams might please you, though it’s mostly about Lee.
Try listening to it while you read it. The audio production is phenomenal.
It’s beautiful. Elegant exploration of human emotions
it was not an easy book but I really liked it. Glad I kept reading.
I really liked it…and it was a super fast read.
I read it. I should have put it on the most about one of the books that disappointed me. I did finish it but it didn’t live up to the hype for me.
I just could not get into the book.

Awful!
I had trouble at the beginning but pushed through. I’m glad I did.
I couldn’t finish it.
My problem with it is that I love all things Lincoln and all of the cited source material for the first hand accounts made me want to go and get all of those books!
I did it but it was not pleasant.
Terrible
Tough, tough read. I finally did it as an audio book. Unique experience.
The audio book was amazing!
Uh-oh. This is on one of my book clubs list for October.
may you find a book that will give you a great adventure
Not trying. I do love all things Lincoln, but my list is too long to take unnecessary chances.
It’s OK…just put it down and try again later! ?
I couldn’t do it either and I tried 2x!
I didn’t like it either
It was the strangest book I’ve ever read
So agree! Could not get through it in book form or audible
I tried but couldn’t read it either
Me either. Horrible.
I loved it! But that’s why there are so many books to choose from!
Absolutely couldn’t take it! First book I can remember stopping midway. Reading for my book club and I finally admitted to others I couldn’t finish it and they all felt the same so we are having a Girls Night Out Thurs. instead of coming to my house forBook Club!
Wish someone would explain why they loved it?

Sounds like you feel kind of guilty. ?
I do! I very rarely put down a book halfway read, but there are so many more
Me either
I couldn’t do it either
I’m half way through.. hope I can make it ☺️
Me neither. Awful
Once I picked up on the rhythm, it became much easier to read.
I ended up loving it. It would make a great discussion book.
I had the audible version with a huge cast but I still struggled to get through it, short as it is.
Loved the audio book
Read it. Meh.
I tried at least three times
I tried too…..couldn’t do it.
Me either
I couldn’t get through it
Okay. I’ll wait for the comic book.
Based on how much I did get through…and you may be joking…but I think it would be a terrific graphic novel
That’s a shame; it’s a book that inventive, original, and beautiful.
I gave up on it. It wasn’t a book, just a bunch of sh blurbs like a twitter feed or something. Too distrac and hard to follow. I checked it out as an Ebola. Perhaps it might be easier to follow in a paper format.
Ugh. Stupid autocorrect and I don’t know how to edit o the iPad
??
ebook

Me neither
i gave up, too.
I even tried it on audio. . .
