What do you mean by taking out Harry Potter novels?
And what don’t you get about the story? Is it that you didn’t like it?

Gosh,it’s not that I don’t like it,I just don’t get it,ya know.

No, your not the only one! I’m just as confused about the hype of the series as you are! When HP first came out I got our daughter the first book, then she gradually obtained all the others, she loves them, I just don’t get it!!! LOL…

Kasey

Not every book is for everyone and they don’t have to be. There are trillions to choose from. ?

They do?I wish they had a town based on our favorite book or novel… I’m so jealous of the Harry Potter fans??

2

It’s at Universal, not Disney.

Tabatha

I wish they had one for twilight and Hungary games

2
Tabatha

Sorry @Eric

1

I’m sorry, but I do NOT want to visit a theme park based on the Hunger Games!

0

There is not a town – there is a section at Universal studio theme park (NOT Disney) that is Harry Potter themed. It is incredible!

Absolutely not the only one so don’t like Harry Potter!

I was told by a co-worker that Harry Potter is literature. Just because you like Harry Potter doesn’t make it literature. Wow. I have not read any of the books and watched the movies with my kids and they had to tell me what was going on all the time.

A work of fiction is literature whether we like it or not. G r e a t literature, may be another matter.

5
Annie

It certainly is literature and billions all over the World love Harry Potter books! Ask yourself if you could pick a story (and a fantastic story) out of your head and become rich??

0

Children’s stories are rarely considered ‘great literature’ same as the movies made with children in mind. Strictly bedtime stories (or home sick in bed stories) and weekend family movies.

Why so negative? The Harry Potter books are full of imagination and kids love them. I am 68 and I get them. At least they emphasize friendship, imagination, intrigue and magical things rather that staring stupidly at the screens of cell phones, tablets or ipods or the sex, murder and mayhem on movies and television.

I wasn’t too impressed when I, as an adult, read the first one when it came out but I changed my mind. I find JK Rowling’s imagination admirable and the books had my students reading. They grew up with the books; as they got older the novels became darker and more mature. That is something very special to experience and not everyone will have this opportunity, especially now that the series has come to an end and all novels are available at once. The novels were written for teenagers. I think they should be treated as such. They have done wonders for literacy, imagination, coming-of-age, girl power etc.

It’s a fun series and it’s easy to understand if you start from the beginning. The books explain everything about it.

I have read all of these at least 5 times! I also own and watch all the movies! Everyone has different tastes. I do not like romance novels, but many people love them. I’ve tried to read Outlander and never could get through the first book. Thank goodness there are books for everyone of us.

Yeah, I can’t get into them either. I saw the first movie (my husband & I took our oldest daughter, who is a HUGE Harry Potter fan, when it first came out. She was 11.) and I didn’t care for it. My daughter doesn’t understand why I don’t like the books or movies. I tell her I just don’t like them.

Could be just the types of books you like to read. They’re not for everyone. I feel like if I read them now I would have a different perspective on them. If you stick with a certain genre of books then that could be why, I read pretty much everything and I have to reread the younger books because my kids love them and I enjoy taking trips back to my childhood. Lol

1
Debby

Yep… if you don’t like them, you don’t like them. Don’t try and force them

2
Fawn

Rowling is a great storyteller, but she’s not a great writer. That said, the books are fun. But not everyone is going to enjoy them. I didn’t really like any of them until the books became more complex.

I read the first three when they first came out. I really enjoyed them. I haven’t read any of the others but I’ve been thinking about picking them back up again. Haven’t watched any of the movies tho. So I couldn’t tell you what those are like. It’s more for a younger age group.

I loved them. I thought the imagination was outstanding – Rowling invented a sport, and made readers see it. Her characters were very well done.
Every book isn’t for everyone, however, and I’ve loved good children’s books ever since I took kiddie lit in college.

i can’t say we’re on the same team there. When they first came out I had absolutely no interest in them but that’s because I HATED to read for leisure. I figured textbooks for school was more than enough. As an adult however i decided to give them a try since I was rather amused by the movies and now i’m hooked on them. I read the second one in less than 2 days. It’s not everyone’s forte though. just like Twilight isn’t everyone’s cup of tea either.

I don’t hate harry potter and the books are found in the juvenile section. Even the industry has classified the book in the category. I stopped being interested in Harry Potter before it ended back in 2010. Especially when the onscreen character had to get naked for the audience. I didn’t appreciate that. Now, I stay with Higher Education reads and just recently started studying advanced chemistry. And am paying more attention to Neil DeGrasse’s books.
