Yes!!!! I even have and read her sisters book. If you read all of them you will read some stories that you’ve already read in the other books but push through that. That show is my number one favorite and I’m gonna cry the day they are through lol

Ok ordering for sure. I just saw the set is $15. I too will cry when they are done. I was so upset when they changes characters after the first couple season’s but the new characters have ended up to be just as likeable!

I actually was so glad Jessica Riane(Jenny Lee) left the show lol she irritated me so much with her “good girl” stuff. I bawled when Sister Evangelina died…bawled. it was ridiculous lol.
The Letters to the Midwife and In the Midst of Life can be hard to find. Took me forever to get all 5 because at the time they weren’t out as much as they are now. I then found out her sister wrote a book to so I had to get it as well.

Lol…she was a goodie 2 shoes…her whole love life story really bothered me. I can’t wait to start reading!

I listened to the audiobook for the first one. Very moving, also a bit different from the shows. I haven’t been able to listen to the second one, since it is called “The Horrors of the Workhouse,” and the first one was haunting enough.

The tv show IS fantastic!! Haven’t read the books, do the resemble the show??

The show is based off of the books. It follows the books up to a certain season and then the show writers start makking their own stories about issues and use other stories(none Jennifer Worth related) from around then about midwifery and the medical scene

Sherry

So do I.

The series now goes on beyond the period of the books. The stories are now from the writer, not jenny’s experiences.

For a show with some medical stuff they are the most accurate I’ve seen. That makes it much more enjoyable for me ?

I love how real most of the birthday seem. Plus, the women tend to genuinely act like ladies during childbirth versus how women usually act in shows/movies.
