I own books but can’t see why the need to keep after I have read them . Why do you keep book if you do ?

I have never sold a book that i have read. I keep them so i can go back and read them again and again. Also i love my book collection its so pretty. Lol.
I keep them but I very rarely reread them. I’ve lived in parts of the world where electricity was sometimes scarce so I kept them so I could entertain myself during the day or by candlelight.
I sell a lot of mine, but some I want to read again
I use to keep but I never read same book 2x
To reread at a later time or to know I have read it so I don’t buy it again
some books I have actually reread so many times the pages have fallen out of them. rereading an old book is like visiting with an old friend!
I hang on to them if they are a special author though I have sent them to a friend who likes her as well.
I only feel I need to keep some…but have actually ordered paper copies of ones I’ve read on Kindle and loved. Not sure why…they’re like friends? I enjoy seeing their spines on my bookshelves? To reread? For my children to read someday? In case of an apocalypse? 😀 I become “attached” in some unexplainable way.
Because I liked it and there is possibility that I’ll want to read it again.
I like to re read mine after a few years
ALWAYS keep them, not sure why,LOL,just do
Always keep them, never reread them….I think I may have a book hoarding problem lol I should probably look into that :p
If I know I’ll never read it again it gets donated or given to a friend. If I will read it again it stays. Some of my books are such good friends of mine having been read multiple times ?
I keep a few but mostly sell them to the used bookstore. Mostly just keep ones that I know I will read again. Lurlene McDaniel’so books are my go to books if I get bored with reading and I really need a good book to get me going again.
One thing i cannot do is get rid of a book, doesn’t matter if i’ve read it or not, once i have a book it stays and it bugs the holy hell out of me if i lend someone a book and never get it back or they lose it (happened to me twice in the last few years and i’m not happy) in fact that’s made me decide never ever to lend anyone any of my books ever again, i’m very very possessive over my books lol x
So true the only person i lend books to now us my mum. Because i know she feels the same way about them as i do. So i know that i will always get them back.
I hear ya!!
The one book i’d had since i was about 5/6 ish and it was the first book i loaned to a little girl i thought would enjoy it as much as me, and everytime i saw her i’d ask where she was in the book as she’d read a little more just before bed each night, then one day she said her dad had moved it out of the way of her sister and they’ve never found it since but none of them seem to understand how upset i am that they lost my book i had for over 30 years and they don’t seem to understand or care about the sentimental value to me either, so the next time i was asked could they borrow whatever, no matter what it was i said no x
I love them too much to not keep them…they are responsible for probably most of my happiness, especially now, and I love to look at them.
I keep them because I love them lol
So I can reread when I want and I just like seeing them in the book shelf. ?
I donate mine to my library…I buy new books all the time and I read them fairly quick.. they get my new book before they get an order in.. i help build my library.lol
I always love to have the books. They are my precious. I love to touch them and hold them in my arms :)) remembering about our memories together. And if anyone touches one I start giving feedbacks about it. The books become a part of me.
I keep books I liked and post the ones I didn’t like on http://paperbackswap.com/ to trade. The presence of books is very comforting to me. I like having them in every room. It’s almost like they are my version of a comfort blanket.
I’m pretty obsessed with my books. I’d never part with one. They are like my babies. Even my son knows to be nice to mommy’s books lol
I NEVER get rid of a book. I have to keep them all. That’s why I have nearly 2000. I might wanna read them again.
I donate
I keep certain books that I want to read over and over-the others I donate to our local library-they have a book sale once a month.
I’d I loved the story or the characters in the book I’ll keep it. If I’m likely to re read it, or if it’s one I would highly recommend to someone. Sometimes I’ll keep it depending on who have it to me. And if it’s one of my antique books I will keep it.
Basically if I’m not impress with the book, or never going to read it again and don’t want to share it with people I know, I’ll pass it on.
If you have a friends of the library a resale donate to them that is how they make money to buy more books for your library. I also use my library and check out books.
if it moved me i keep it to reread. The rest go in the donation box for either the library or local church bazaars
I only keep books that I rate with 5 stars, all the rest I trade in or donate. If I kept every book I read, I’d be at hoarder status pretty quickly!
keepers — mostly cookbooks & biographies and autobiographies … if i come across a readers i’ll gladly give aand hope they will enjoy as much as i did .. i rate (star system) my reads on the title page so they will know what i thought of the book … my only sad thought is not having a connection to see what they thought of my shared gift … i also will give to a thrift store that benefits veterans …
I only keep my favorites. Usually series by my favorite authors. Others I take to the used bookstore or let people borrow.
I collect books, I am surrounded by books, and if I didn’t like, it it’s not on the shelf.
I collect books, especially by certain authors. I want to have every book that authors has written. I especially love series. I’ll go back and reread books over and over again. Some get donated or traded for others that I’m looking for.
I usually don’t I put them up at work and let other people read them but when they get done w it there supposed to do the same thing w it
I keep the ones I really like and want to read again. Or for my kids.
I keep the ones I really like and want to read again. Or for my kids.
Memories or to re read
Donate or sell to used book store
I get rid of mine too, to make room for all the new ones I want to read *grin
If I like it a lot or love I keep it, cause I’ll read it again. If not like or liked so so, I donate it or give away. Or sell it if can.
I always keep mine unless I didn’t like the book. It’s like my “shelf of accomplishments”. Each book reminds me of the time in my life I read it so they are all special to me. I don’t lend books anymore because of not getting them back and I like to keep the actual copy I read. I hate when anything gets on a book or wrinkles the cover or something. But they have character 🙂
Um hello they’re books! Haha
Books I totally love I keep.. the rest I donate but now I have a lot of ebooks.. but I can lend those out anytime.
Well books I didn’t read I gave away to goodwill and the ones I did like or read I kept them
I love looking at them. I love books and being around books and so does my daughter so she’ll get them eventually. I have over 1000. I reread some if them but I have always wanted to own what I read. I used to spend my allowance on books as a kid.
I love books. I keep the ones I think I will read again or lend to someone. The rest I either give to Goodwill, a book sale or put in a Little Library.
Besides, they make good insulation if you put them in a bookcase on an outer wall!
I keep the ones I like so I can reread and I donate the ones I don’t like to Goodwill.
I always keep the ones that I love so I can reread them again. They become old friends.
If they’re really amazing. I donate them otherwise.
When I read a book, and enjoy it, it becomes special to me. I almost fall in love with the book as much as I do the story, and I’m so bloody sentimental that when I look at the book again, I remember our “relationship” and the experience we had while I was reading it. If a book was only so-so, I’ll give it away, but my favourites are kept. I just love to sit and look at them, or rearrange them. It really gives me joy to be surrounded by books <3
I keep all my books and read them over and over again until they fall apart….I love books!
A lot of my books are good for reference and to give me ideas , Thats why I keep them,
I love having bookcases full of books. They are beautiful.
I don’t purchase a book unless it is going to be worth rereading. Most of mine, I have read three or more times. The only exceptions are those that I purchase to fill out a series or were exceptional buys in a used bookstore, or the like.
Because I can..I love books
I love collecting books I loved! It feels great to see them on my shelf once I’ve read them it’s satisfying
A to reread the books that you love so you won’t have to worry about waiting for the library to get it in if the urge to reread should arise. Or wasting money to purchase a book that was already loved and deserves the visit again
It is a collection. I love books. I love reading books. I love re-reading some books. I love keeping all my books (unless I absolutely hated it, which is rare). I like knowing that I could always revisit the magic of someone’s creativity, and I keep in the back of my mind that I can share those books with anyone that shows interest. Also, allows a good collection for my children to read when they get older, like sharing those memories with my favorite little people. I guess it I’d just like why I keep puzzles after I complete them.
I keep it if a)it is beautiful (most cheap mass market paperbacks are not kept by me), b) there is any chance of being re-read c)If it is emotionally significant and I want to have a physical reminder of the memories.
I re-read. And if I choose to keep a book it’s because it has deep meaning or I have great love for the story.
Some I love I keep-rest I take to the library-even get a tax deduction
Build a home library. Read the books again…..homes look empty without libraries.
If I had the room I would keep every single book I’ve had ever!!! But I just don’t 🙁 so until my hubby and I can afford to move and I have my own space for a library/art room any that I can bear to part with must be rehomed… But much to my hubby dismay they get turned into new books through traid ins hehehe
I love rereadimg books that I enjoyed when I first got them
It’s amazing how much effort it takes to write. Let alone a book. They deserve the reverence of being kept. ?
I wish I had the…whatever to get rid of each book as I read it.
Maybe u will want to read again, but it’s much much much more, it’s the relationship you build with each book, each book is like a portal to another place, the smell, the feel of the book in your hands the beauty of it sitting on the shelf, lol I might me be a little out there, but for me that’s it
No. That’s pretty much the essence of a book
I keep only the books I want to share with my family or the ones I want to re read or the ones I haven’t read. The rest I give away. Yet I still have a whole room that is a library in my home. It seems the more I give the more I get. But my grandkids and family live my library and my friends. It’s fun for all of us
My books come from local library. After I read them, I return them, no problem !
