I keep them but I very rarely reread them. I’ve lived in parts of the world where electricity was sometimes scarce so I kept them so I could entertain myself during the day or by candlelight.

To reread at a later time or to know I have read it so I don’t buy it again

some books I have actually reread so many times the pages have fallen out of them. rereading an old book is like visiting with an old friend!

I hang on to them if they are a special author though I have sent them to a friend who likes her as well.

I only feel I need to keep some…but have actually ordered paper copies of ones I’ve read on Kindle and loved. Not sure why…they’re like friends? I enjoy seeing their spines on my bookshelves? To reread? For my children to read someday? In case of an apocalypse? 😀 I become “attached” in some unexplainable way.

If I know I’ll never read it again it gets donated or given to a friend. If I will read it again it stays. Some of my books are such good friends of mine having been read multiple times ?

I keep a few but mostly sell them to the used bookstore. Mostly just keep ones that I know I will read again. Lurlene McDaniel’so books are my go to books if I get bored with reading and I really need a good book to get me going again.

One thing i cannot do is get rid of a book, doesn’t matter if i’ve read it or not, once i have a book it stays and it bugs the holy hell out of me if i lend someone a book and never get it back or they lose it (happened to me twice in the last few years and i’m not happy) in fact that’s made me decide never ever to lend anyone any of my books ever again, i’m very very possessive over my books lol x

The one book i’d had since i was about 5/6 ish and it was the first book i loaned to a little girl i thought would enjoy it as much as me, and everytime i saw her i’d ask where she was in the book as she’d read a little more just before bed each night, then one day she said her dad had moved it out of the way of her sister and they’ve never found it since but none of them seem to understand how upset i am that they lost my book i had for over 30 years and they don’t seem to understand or care about the sentimental value to me either, so the next time i was asked could they borrow whatever, no matter what it was i said no x

I love them too much to not keep them…they are responsible for probably most of my happiness, especially now, and I love to look at them.

I always love to have the books. They are my precious. I love to touch them and hold them in my arms :)) remembering about our memories together. And if anyone touches one I start giving feedbacks about it. The books become a part of me.

I keep books I liked and post the ones I didn’t like on http://paperbackswap.com/ to trade. The presence of books is very comforting to me. I like having them in every room. It’s almost like they are my version of a comfort blanket.

I’d I loved the story or the characters in the book I’ll keep it. If I’m likely to re read it, or if it’s one I would highly recommend to someone. Sometimes I’ll keep it depending on who have it to me. And if it’s one of my antique books I will keep it.

Basically if I’m not impress with the book, or never going to read it again and don’t want to share it with people I know, I’ll pass it on.

If you have a friends of the library a resale donate to them that is how they make money to buy more books for your library. I also use my library and check out books.

I only keep books that I rate with 5 stars, all the rest I trade in or donate. If I kept every book I read, I’d be at hoarder status pretty quickly!

keepers — mostly cookbooks & biographies and autobiographies … if i come across a readers i’ll gladly give aand hope they will enjoy as much as i did .. i rate (star system) my reads on the title page so they will know what i thought of the book … my only sad thought is not having a connection to see what they thought of my shared gift … i also will give to a thrift store that benefits veterans …

I always keep mine unless I didn’t like the book. It’s like my “shelf of accomplishments”. Each book reminds me of the time in my life I read it so they are all special to me. I don’t lend books anymore because of not getting them back and I like to keep the actual copy I read. I hate when anything gets on a book or wrinkles the cover or something. But they have character 🙂

I love looking at them. I love books and being around books and so does my daughter so she’ll get them eventually. I have over 1000. I reread some if them but I have always wanted to own what I read. I used to spend my allowance on books as a kid.

When I read a book, and enjoy it, it becomes special to me. I almost fall in love with the book as much as I do the story, and I’m so bloody sentimental that when I look at the book again, I remember our “relationship” and the experience we had while I was reading it. If a book was only so-so, I’ll give it away, but my favourites are kept. I just love to sit and look at them, or rearrange them. It really gives me joy to be surrounded by books <3

I don’t purchase a book unless it is going to be worth rereading. Most of mine, I have read three or more times. The only exceptions are those that I purchase to fill out a series or were exceptional buys in a used bookstore, or the like.

A to reread the books that you love so you won’t have to worry about waiting for the library to get it in if the urge to reread should arise. Or wasting money to purchase a book that was already loved and deserves the visit again

It is a collection. I love books. I love reading books. I love re-reading some books. I love keeping all my books (unless I absolutely hated it, which is rare). I like knowing that I could always revisit the magic of someone’s creativity, and I keep in the back of my mind that I can share those books with anyone that shows interest. Also, allows a good collection for my children to read when they get older, like sharing those memories with my favorite little people. I guess it I’d just like why I keep puzzles after I complete them.

I keep it if a)it is beautiful (most cheap mass market paperbacks are not kept by me), b) there is any chance of being re-read c)If it is emotionally significant and I want to have a physical reminder of the memories.

I re-read. And if I choose to keep a book it’s because it has deep meaning or I have great love for the story.

Maybe u will want to read again, but it’s much much much more, it’s the relationship you build with each book, each book is like a portal to another place, the smell, the feel of the book in your hands the beauty of it sitting on the shelf, lol I might me be a little out there, but for me that’s it

No. That’s pretty much the essence of a book

I keep only the books I want to share with my family or the ones I want to re read or the ones I haven’t read. The rest I give away. Yet I still have a whole room that is a library in my home. It seems the more I give the more I get. But my grandkids and family live my library and my friends. It’s fun for all of us
