I second the An Ember in the Ashes series. I also suggest Alwyn Hamilton’s Rebel of the Sands trilogy.
And I darken series by Kiersten White, the Hunger Games trilogy, and Warcross by Marie Lu are also good.
Pretty much most books by Tamora Pierce. Especially any that are in the Tortall Universe.
