Don’t think of Outlander as romance. I suggest Mary Balogh’s survivor series, Julie Anne Long’s Pennyroyal series, Elizabeth Hoyt ‘s Maiden Lane series to start with
Penny Reid’s Neanderthal Meets Human Joanna Bourne’s Spymaster books Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson books and Alpha and Omega series Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels books, Hidden Legacy books and her Edge books Kristen Ashley’s Lady Luck, At Peace, The Gamble
Yes that is the first book in that series and is great fun! This is followed by Duke by Default which is about her best friend Portia-which is on my to read list! I would recommend anything by Jill Mansell -I once had a friend who bought me Rumour has it by Jill Mansell as a birthday present-I don’t usually read much chick-flit but I actually really loved it and ended up reading all her other books ( I usually read a lot of fantasy novels). Jill Mansell’s books are all individual standalone books so you can read them in any order you like.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell These Is My Words by Nancy Turner The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
I second Susan Elizabeth Phillips or Jennifer Crusie’s early books. If you want something a little more contemporary, try Christina Lauren’s Beautiful Bastard. Hysterically funny, especially in audio format. My absolute favorite historical romance, aside from Georgette Heyer’s books which are in a class by themselves, is The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie by Jennifer Ashley
I just finished Big, Sexy, Love by Kirsten Greenwood. It was funny but not steamy. Sort of reminded me of Bridget Jones Diary as the author is English. I would recommend!
Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon 🙂
Anything Mariana Zapata. Love her

@Kristen I like romance novels that show realistic relationships.
@Mary Have you read Cruel and Beautiful by A.M Hargrove? It’s a tear-jerker! And a big naughty, I’ll admit. But it’s amazing.
@Kristen I’ll try that one. Thanks.

Jasmine Guillory’s two books The Wedding Date and The Proposal are both great. They aren’t overly cheesy but still romantic.
I just finished Big, Sexy, Love by Kirsten Greenwood. It was funny but not steamy. Sort of reminded me of Bridget Jones Diary as the author is English. I would recommend!
And…Bridget Jones’ Diary too!
Get any Nora Roberts book. They are such good romance novels
