Serial, Dear Franklin Jones, Dr. Death, Dirty John and Heaven’s Gate are all incredibly gripping real-life story-driven podcasts, I can’t recommend them highly enough.
I can’t listen to audiobooks. I get so frustrated, because I can read faster than someone can read to me. But nonfiction podcasts feel like a conversation. They work for me!
@Emily I am going to have to look them up. If you like true crimes and mysteries then I would recomend Mile Higher podcast and Kendall Rae Talk Tuesday. Both podcasts are by Kendall and she talks a lot about crimes that are in the news and cold cases. She gives you all the facts and any new information that has come out thus far. She always encourages debates in her comment section. I really love listening to them both. You can watch and listen to her full podcasts on youtube.
You’re welcome! I fell in love with her podcasts about 2 years ago. She did a special 3 part podcast on the Casey Anthony trial, And I was hooked…. I really like her “where is…” series where she talks about missing people. She also sales custom shirts for this series. Every shirt design is made by a subscriber and 100% of the procedes go to THORN. So far I have been able to buy about 6 of the shirts. I love that the money is going to something that is actually working to help stop human trafficking.
@Robin I totally forgot about Bert Kreisher…. I lovebopen tabs! It is so funny. H3H3 is amazing, I watch every podcast on youtube as soon as they go live.
I am the same way. I love reading, I have been a reader since I was little. But the podcasts I watch are my entertainment besides a few shows I watch on TV.
What Should I Read Next, anything by BookRiot, By the Book, Reading Women, The Bookstore, My Favorite Murder, My Dad Wrote a Porno, Travelogue, Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me and Reading Envy – I’m always stuck in traffic, so I listen to a lot of podcasts.
If you like creepy podcasts I love 2 channels on Youtube. Mr. Nightmare and Southern Cannibal. They read the best creepy stories. Sometimes when I can’t fall asleep I will turn on one of their videos and it helps me to finally fall into a deep sleep. Granted I do dream of their stories but I don’t mind…
I really like Writing Excuses. They talk about writing as well as books. Each episode gives you a book of the day as well as a writing assignment. They also have authors as guests on occasion.
Hmmm i never cared about pod casts before as i listen to audio books and NPR radio and police scanner. Some times i can’t decide which i want to do with the three choices already for my free time and then there’s actual and ebooks, but true crime… You got me interested now darn it. One more choice added to my list??
Hi. I’m not trying to self promote, but I’m fascinated by true crime as well and I’ve been researching cases around my home town in South Australia. Take a look if you’re interested (especially the ‘Unknown Man’ found on a beach in 1948) Cheers 🙂 https://www.facebook.com/Kim-Bishop-365029563990404/
@Gauge Someone Knows Something(Canadian podcast) about the 1977 disappearance of 5 y.o Adrien McNaughton from Holmes Lake, Ontario, Canada. The case and search is still active. Very fascinating.
@Kim Weirdly enough, I think I already know that case. He had a slip of paper in his pocket that read “Tamam Shud” & he was found on Adelaide Beach, right?
I listen to sci fri on npr every Friday afternoon on my home ward commute. Hubby teases me about sitting in the car for 10 minutes after I get home. He exaggerates lol
What should I read next! Her voice is so soothing too!
HIGHLY recommend Lore and Cabinet of Curiosities.
