You know that saying “when one door closes, another one opens”? My motto is “when one book closes, another one opens” ? Happens pretty simultaneously ??
I just finished a very good book and started a new on within five minutes. When I am on a reading kick, I feel like I always have to have a book going!
Unless life gets in the way and i have to stop reading, it is only however long it takes me to open another ebook or grab the next book off my physical TBR pile. So basically less than a minute! Keep marching forward! Lots of books to read and so little time! ?
I read every night when I go to bed, so it depends when I finish the book If I finish and I’m not yet tired enough to sleep, I’ll pick up another one If I drift off happily after finishing the book I’ll start another one the following night
Wait. You have to finish a book before starting another. The excellent book, The Library Book, is languishing right now because I got sucked into Once Upon A River (which I picked up because it was on my way to the bathroom). I usually have two or three books going. One time, I had four.
Probably as soon as I finish…unless I’m left in a book hangover. Last book hangover had me so damn messed up I didn’t start another book for almost 3 weeks!!! ?
Usually almost immediately unless it’s one of those books I can’t let go of or is super emotional. Then it can be a few days before I can move on. I’ve only had that happen maybe a half dozen times though.
Mere minutes. I read constantly, since I was a kid. Less while I was in college, because, you know, it’s college. But other than that, always reading!!
It depends. Sometimes as soon as I finish one book I jump into another or other times I wait for some time to pass. Today I finished a book and although I have another book ready to read I’m not sure if I’m ready to dive into it yet. I’m feeling kind of sad that I just finished the book I was reading because I really enjoyed it.
I start reading another one right away. Except if it’s late and I go to bed.
Same for me!
10 minutes
Maybe a couple hours unless I finish a book at night then I’ll start one the next morning
You know that saying “when one door closes, another one opens”?
My motto is “when one book closes, another one opens” ?
Happens pretty simultaneously ??
If it’s a really good book, I wait a few days. If it’s not so good, I start a new one right away.
???? seconds
You…you can wait between books?! What sorcery is this?!
I usually have 2 -10 books going at once, there’s never ‘between’! ?
I just finished a very good book and started a new on within five minutes. When I am on a reading kick, I feel like I always have to have a book going!
The same day
Depends on the book I just finished!
However long it takes me to figure out what the next book I want to read is. So seconds to minutes lol
This! LOL
It depends on how the other book affected me. ? If it was intense, then it will take me a couple of weeks. ?
Unless life gets in the way and i have to stop reading, it is only however long it takes me to open another ebook or grab the next book off my physical TBR pile. So basically less than a minute! Keep marching forward! Lots of books to read and so little time! ?
I generally have at least two on the go so this never happens ?
One day…need at least a day to recover lol
Usually for the length of time for me to sleep. I finish a lot of books in the morning (I work night shift). Sleep, wake up, start a new book.
Oh do you have to wait?
I read every night when I go to bed, so it depends when I finish the book
If I finish and I’m not yet tired enough to sleep, I’ll pick up another one
If I drift off happily after finishing the book I’ll start another one the following night
What is this wait business??
A few minutes
Well, if the next book is qued up on kindle or sitting in my TBR box…
Sometimes long enough to get another cup of coffee lol
Start a new one straight away
The mere seconds it takes me to record it and grab the next one. Sometimes a little longer if I’m not sure what to read next.
I finished a book this afternoon, I will start new one tomorrow. But if at the beach or out I may only wait 15 -20 min and start a new one.
It depends. Usually a day. But after I read Jane Eyre, it was a week before I was emotionally ready to read another book..
About five minutes. ?
5 seconds? ? It depends on my mood and if I have something else lined up. Usually I finish and immediately click into my next one.
About 2 mins

Just a few minutes, if it was an especially dramatic ending, I might read fb for a half hour before starting a new one
I only wait as long as it takes me to put that book down and grab the next one on the pile ?
Sometimes will read loose things like magazines to clean out my brain cells, then back at it again!
Depends on the book I just finished honestly! Sometimes I need days to process, sometimes I’m ready for another in seconds.
Same day .
Depends on how sore my heart is
Wait? What is this wait you talk about?
Same day if possible.
I start a new book the same day.
Haha, instantly!!
Probably as soon as I finish…unless I’m left in a book hangover. Last book hangover had me so damn messed up I didn’t start another book for almost 3 weeks!!! ?
About 5 seconds…or as long as it takes me to walk to my bookshelf lol
Usually right after. Depending on how it ends and when I finish it I might wait until the next morning.
I’m supposed to wait??????????
These questions get worse….
Not long
Almost immediately!
A couple minutes or after I wake up.
No waiting for me.
Depends on how attached I am to the characters. No longer then a day or two.
Immediately.
I do take a moment of reflection, but only a moment. Lol!
You’re reading one at a time?
I start a new book immediately
Usually almost immediately unless it’s one of those books I can’t let go of or is super emotional. Then it can be a few days before I can move on.
I’ve only had that happen maybe a half dozen times though.
Usually right away.
I usually end a book and start page one of a new book immediately
1 second
depends on book
If it’s in a series, maybe minutes… If it’s the end of a series I mourn the loss of the characters for like a day
Minutes!
Close one. Open another
Whenever im ready
Depends on how busy I am. I would say maybe a day or two.
However long it takes me to record what I read and pick up the next one. About 5 minutes!
