What reading challenge? Because I have one finnish and there is every parts even write in english. And year I read one book which was the same age than me. It was one Janet Evanovich’s book (1989 is my year) and I find it with Goodreads. ?
Goodreads! Their list section has a search for any keywords you can think of. There is also a Best Of link where you can see lists that users have voted the best books, ranging from century down to year.
Use the Advance Search function of your local library’s catalog and there should be a Publication Date field. Put in the year you were born and then in the Keyword field put in a very common word like “the.” Voila.
Alternatively you could look up lists of award winning books for the year you were born and/or the year after (since many awards are announced at the end of the year or early the next). Pulitzer Prize, Man Booker Prize, National Book Award, Edgar Award, Hugo Award, Newbury Award…
You could also find a very prolific author that you like who was active around the time you were born, look at a list of all of their works, and see what they published that year. Stephen King for example…
Google books published in 19…
Google is your friend… And Goodreads probably has a list…
Ooo Princess Bride….
Thank you everyone, I should have already known that, but well I just didn’t lol.
Very easy to do! Just ask the Internet. You can also specify what genre.
🙂
I like that idea!!! And since this is the Silent Book Club…I’ll keep the year silent as well…?
To find a book in the year you were born, do an internet search
Are you taking the 2018 reading challenge? 😀
I am.
Jessie, I think the pop sugar challenge was the decade you were born… Unless I misread it. But yeah I went to a Goodreads list

Basic – set a number of books you want to read for the year. Here’s one a bit beyond basic: https://www.popsugar.com/entertainment/Reading-Challenge-2018-44138581
You can set a challenge for yourself on Goodreads.

If you go to internet and type in “Books published in (your year) and it will bring them all up.
I went to google and looked up ”books written in 1948”. Several referrals to GoodReads, but, others, as well.
Thank you all so much for your information, much appreciated & welcomed… ???
But, how do you find a book you can read in one sitting?
Have you read Fortunately the Milk by Neil Gaiman? It’s a youth book and so funny. Very quick easy read.
I child’s story book is my guess.
Lol I asked Alexa this question and stumped her. I must be old lol!
