Good question! I never used to as I thought it would give me nightmares. I got into crime drama and I think it was probably reading a Gillian White book that wasn’t crime that led me to read one of her more psychological crime books, so you could say I started off gently. Then I read Sophie Hannah and I was off. I reads tons now! And they don’t always give me nightmares ?

Oh, I don’t know. What was the first crime novel I ever read? There’s often some crossover between horror, sci-fi and crime, and I read a lot of horror and sci-fi when I was young. So I’d say that was my introduction. Or maybe I’d say it was Batman and Spider Man. I read a lot of DC and Marvel in my youth – and most of their storylines featured larger-than-life criminals. So that was it. That’s how I got into crime.
