Loved that book! It reminded me of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Immigrant struggles, family sagas, flawed protagonists, the constriction of gender roles, the power of love, etc etc.
Understand. Since I listen at night as i go to sleep, I’m listening to it a second time right now. Think maybe I must have fallen asleep during some…Still thought it was very good. How little history i know…
Waiting for me to pickup at the library!
Just finished— I loved it. I felt transported to another life.
It is excellent!
On my bookshelf!

I was interested in Pachinko before, but this just really makes me want to read it! I loved a Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of my favorite books! I listened to Pachinko on audiobook and I highly recommend that format.
@Rui its a favorite of mine as well!! I will give the audiobook a try then! Is there only one narrator?
Yep!
Wonderful! I will check it out. I’ve been needing a new audiobook!
Thank you for the suggestion!
@Rui Me too!
@Katherine Yes, only one. Very well done though. I actually had to think about it though; got so into the characters.
@Phyllis that sounds magnificent!
Truly loved this long read
Best book I’ve read this year! ???
I want to read this one!
I just purchased it and excited to read it soon!
I forgot to mention: It’s being turned into a TV series! Can’t wait to see it! ?
I loved the beginning, but in the end part of the book I never felt very invested in the characters’ lives.

Loved the book. Great read. Interesting characters.
I loved it!
I’m half way through and I liked it but I’m starting to lose interest…. does it pick up again? Noah is around 11, nearing time to leave the farm.
A few more generations to go.
@Phyllis ohh ? oy
@Connie But there’s nothing noble in continuing to read something you don’t care for. 🙂
@Phyllis I really enjoyed it so far, maybe I just need a breather
@Connie It’s not the most uplifting book. I had no idea of this part of history. Fascinating to me thiugh.
