Loved that book! It reminded me of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. Immigrant struggles, family sagas, flawed protagonists, the constriction of gender roles, the power of love, etc etc.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of my favorite books! I listened to Pachinko on audiobook and I highly recommend that format.

I loved the beginning, but in the end part of the book I never felt very invested in the characters’ lives.

Understand. Since I listen at night as i go to sleep, I’m listening to it a second time right now. Think maybe I must have fallen asleep during some…Still thought it was very good. How little history i know…

I’m half way through and I liked it but I’m starting to lose interest…. does it pick up again? Noah is around 11, nearing time to leave the farm.

@Connie But there’s nothing noble in continuing to read something you don’t care for. 🙂
