@Jill I had to abandon that one.

1
Tammy

@Jill that’s Owen King not Joe Hill.

3
Tammy

@Jill Owen isn’t really my style. He doesn’t write the same genre as his dad and Joe.

2
Tammy

@Jill but I saw Owen and Stephen King on tour for that book and they were amazing together. The book wasn’t bad just prefer his other stuff more.

1
Mert

Yes, I’ve read Heart Shaped Box, Horns, and Nos4a2. All really good.

Everything, and it was all awesome. I didn’t even know he was S. King’s son when I read the first few books. It wasn’t until Sleeping Beauties that I found out!

1

Mert

@Aurora Sleeping Beauties is Owen King, the other son. Some family huh.

3
Aurora

@Mert Exactly! I was reading an article about the book, with Owen and Stephen King, and the interviewer mentioned the success of his other son, Joe Hill, as an author and I was all, Shut the front door! It amazed me.

Absolutely love him. The Fireman is perfection. Heart-Shaped Box is amazingly disturbing. He is 100% his father’s son.

The beginning of HEART SHAPED BOX really freaked me out. It took me a couple of tries before I got through it. No idea why it did since his other books were just as creepy. He’s very talented.

I just finished NOS4A2 written by Joe Hill. It was pretty weird more like Stephen Kings early books. I didn’t like this one and it was 900+ pages.

@Kim NOS4A2 was the first of his I read (not sure if I knew his parentage or not when I started it) and it was VERY reminiscent of early King to me. I really enjoyed it. Heart Shaped Box I enjoyed and Fireman was a bit of a Stand ripoff I felt, with less of a message, but a lot of people love it.

@Katie Exactly re early King.

Didn’t know he had a son who also was an author!

1

Tammy

@Karla Owen King and Joe Hill are both his sons and Tabitha King is his wife and she writes also. Owen’s wife also writes. And King has a daughter who is a minister. That was shocking to me.

I love his books… they remind me of early King.

He’s one of my favorite authors; Heart Shaped Box makes my Top Ten List, and I generally don’t read horror genre. He’s one of the few authors whose books I insist on running out to B&N for the day it releases. ❤️

Have had (but not read) Heart Shaped Box on my Nook forever. Read NOS4A2 and was mostly just annoyed by it. Didn’t like Vic. I was looking for something truly scary when I read it and didn’t enjoy it as it was just creepy, not scary at all

@Krista, I’ve been looking for a book just as you described and I just purchased it on Audible. I’m so excited to get started but I must be a huge weirdo, as I live in a 100 year old house and I’m alone 85% of the time. I hope I can finish it. Thank you for the recommendation ??

@Donna I was afraid to read it home alone…good luck I did really enjoy it!
