Read it ages ago but I would imagine it wouldn’t be so captivating if you have seen the film first

I loved it. It’s not an easy book to get through though, I had to concentrate. Not a train journey book, you need a bit of peace and quiet.

Outstanding book but dreadful film. I was moved to tears at the social problems raised and to see the nature v nurture debate so well argued. The end left me in complete shock which is very unusual for me.

Good but very very disturbing . I wouldn’t read it again. Big Brother by the same author is instantly forgettable. Think the author is a one book wonder

My book club loved it, but I was the exception. It was too dark and disturbing for me and I couldn’t finish it.

I honestly didn’t know it was a book. The movie was very disturbing, but very good.

The movie wasn’t very good. It couldn’t be as it’s not a book you can honestly make a movie about. It will always remain one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read. But all the people I’ve recommended it to didn’t like it. It’s for those “certain” people I think.
