Outstanding book but dreadful film. I was moved to tears at the social problems raised and to see the nature v nurture debate so well argued. The end left me in complete shock which is very unusual for me.
Good but very very disturbing . I wouldn’t read it again. Big Brother by the same author is instantly forgettable. Think the author is a one book wonder
The movie wasn’t very good. It couldn’t be as it’s not a book you can honestly make a movie about. It will always remain one of the most memorable books I’ve ever read. But all the people I’ve recommended it to didn’t like it. It’s for those “certain” people I think.
Excellent book, love her writing
I couldn’t get into it
A fantastic read, Shriver knows how to tell a story.
I loved it. Very disturbing but one of my all time favourite books.
Read it ages ago but I would imagine it wouldn’t be so captivating if you have seen the film first
Film awful, in my opinion 🙁
Very slow start but then an utterly amazing captivating read. Extremely disturbing.
read a while ago disturbing book well worth reading
Loved the book but not the film !
So hard to get through! ?
I loved it. It’s not an easy book to get through though, I had to concentrate. Not a train journey book, you need a bit of peace and quiet.

yes I found it very readable but it raises disturbing questions
A harrowing read, but a very disturbing subject.
Amazing, disturbing book.
i have. it is a disturbing book
Yes it’s very good
Brilliant book. Not an easy read sometimes.

My book club loved it, but I was the exception. It was too dark and disturbing for me and I couldn’t finish it.
Very well written but VERY disturbing.
Yes,well written and memorable but it definitely doesn’t leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling inside ?
brilliant book but is an uncomfortable read. It brings up lots of questions, nature or nuture?
Fascinating story. Leaves you questioning who was responsible.
Good but very disturbing.
Very good, at times hard (emotionally as a parent) to read but also thought provoking.
Yes, excellent but haunting!
Disturbing – one that you will remember!
Super creepy
Brilliant book!
One of the most disturbing and powerful books I have ever read. Incredibly moving.
I read a long time ago and saw film when released. Book exceedingly better. Very well written, well worth a read
Disturbing but a good read
Yes- Fantastic.
Agree with other posts also worst film from a book ever
Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh …..
Brilliant
One of my favourite books, terrible film.
No but the film is fantastic!
Yes I almost gave up but a friend said stick with it. It took ages to get going but when it did and the twists oooft 5/5 it stayed with me for ages.
Excellent book club read, the shouting goes on for ages, opinions split firmly down the middle, no wishy washy middle road
Tried but had to give up on it – a very rare happening
Disturbing but great.
Yay. Brilliant book.
Yes really good – although I think I prefered So Much For That also by her
Hard read but really great.
Brilliant one of the best books I’ve read over the last couple of years
Disturbing!
I honestly didn’t know it was a book. The movie was very disturbing, but very good.
