I love them. I mean…they’re clearly for younger readers but if you a) are a younger reader or b) enjoy that kind of story then you might enjoy them as well

I’ve been thinking about reading them. Cause I absolutely love the movies but haven’t read the books.

You love the movies ?
Then you are going to fall head over heels for the books. There are 5 books in the series but only 2 movies. 5 books have been cramped into a mind numbing display of 3 hours or so.

Justin

The movies were very simplified, especially the second one :p I’m usually really good about watching movies made from books even if it’s a bad adaptation, but Sea of Monsters just lost so much of the plot

Really? Cause that 9ne is actually my favourite. Does that mean it’s gears better in books?

0
Justin

Far, far better. The two stories are much more tied together and they missed a LOT of story in the movies in return for more action scenes.

I am just getting happier and more keen to read these by the minute. Clause I’m currently about half way through city of heavenly by Cassandra Clare but I’ve read it a few times so it’s starting to lose some of its interest….

1
Justin

I really recommend them then. I recently revisited the audiobooks. There’s a certain amount of silliness, but they’re great adventure stories all the same. Plus there’s a whole bunch.

0
ShellyQuestion author

How many books of them are there?

0
Justin

like 13 now I think? A 5 book series, a 6 book series, and the current one which is 2 and counting.

0
ShellyQuestion author

Oh there’s different series of Percy Jackson?

0
Justin

*nod* yep. The second series includes Percy in it though he’s no longer the sole central perspective (he also isn’t in the first one but has a major role after that). The third really just has Percy in a minor role so far and focuses on Apollo (the less said the better, ’cause spoilers)

Lmao if you loved the movies you’re going to have a good time with the series! I hated the movies. I stopped watching after the first movie.

I tried to read the first one and it was just … not written for adults. I found it kind of trite, stereotypical, and shallow. I mean, even with all the impracticalities of adapting the various inappropriate elements of Greek mythology into a YA book, I still think it could have been handled more creatively. Maybe they got better as the series continued; I just couldn’t get into it.

They are classified as middle grade so of course the writing style is aimed at that audience. It’s written without the intention of it being for older audiences. At least not until the Heroes of Olympus series. I love the Percy Jackson series. Hands down one of my favourite series. They’re just really fun reads with great characters ^^ I personally think they’re the kind of books that are enjoyable for all ages 🙂

YES!!!!!!!! IT’S THE REASON WHY I LOVE TO READ JCEJHUFHHFCS <3 <3 <3

You could learn a lot from mythologies from Uncle Rick's books. You don't need to know who's the god of this and that because the book will fill you in. They're humorous and factual at the same time that you won't get bored with all the talking about gods.

Let me put it this way, my best friend traveled to Korea and asked me if I wanted anything. I said the only thing I wanted was a Korean edition of The Lightning Thief (first book) well apparently it’s not popular at all in Korea so she had to special order it with a Korean phone number which she had to get a friends because it was the only thing I wanted and it’s beautiful. It’s my favorite series and was my gateway book into reading. I hated reading until I was a teenager and found Percy Jackson and wouldn’t change it for the world I’ve been so blessed after finding that series I can say with complete certainty that it changed my life and I would not be the same person without that series.
