@Joey I think it’s worth seeing the similarities and differences between the two. The current season is still drawing inspiration from the books, which is pretty cool.
I despise the books. The show is excellent now that they’ve more or less abandoned the book plot. Before they did though, it was practically unwatchable.
I guess I’m in unpopular opinion where I enjoyed the books, but didn’t like the tv show. They go so far away from the books I don’t even know why they called it the Magicians in the first place. ?♀️
I liked the first book too. I never have gotten around to reading the rest of the series. I bought book 3, but am holding off reading it until I can read book 2 🙂 It’s usually checked out at my library when I think to check on it, and usually forget to look for it when I’m in a bookstore.
I think this is one of those series that is really hit or miss depending on the person. I’ve DNFed the first book three times now but made it much farther in my read after watching the first season of the show. Maybe I’ll try again some day, who knows!
I’ve read the first one. I wasn’t really into it. My husband has read them all and he loves them. He convinced me to watch the show and to my surprise, I really love it. I guess it translates well to a visual format.
I read the series. I’ve also watched the show.
Um, I dislike the first book and found everyone in it unlikable. It’s slow and plodding and kinda boring and super nihilistic.
That being said, I enjoyed both sequels and thought they were way better.
I like the show more, especially more than book one.
@Jennifer I watched the show, & I liked it too. Now trying out the first book.

I only read the first book and didn’t enjoy it at all. Because of that I didn’t continue the series.

I dislike the books and love the tv show. The book characters are whiny and annoying.
I have only seen the first season of the show, and liked it. I read all three books a year after watching the show and enjoyed them as well.
I liked the books better than the TV show. I read all 3 books one right after the other. I could never really get into the TV show.
I’m actually listening to book one and it’s okay. I’ll probably continue with the other books.
It’s on my TBR pile

I really, really wanted to like the first book but I just couldn’t finish it 🙁
