@Laura sorry to say, no, and I love books dealing with WWII, etc. I take it I should try again;)

Was it just too hard to read?

@Laura I am not sure, could not get into it,. Sometimes I have too high expectations;) I am sure you will probably enjoy it immensely. Same thing happened to me with Gone Girl….

I think I’m probably in the minority but I avoid WW2 books at all costs

I really liked this book, though it was not easy to read- not the prose, rather the subject matter.

I bought it for my Daughter in hardback. I only read off my kindle now days. She has only read 50 or so pages if that. She is really too busy with a 18 month old and full time work. I tend to stay away from those years in books but have read my fair share. I do not see myself reading it . But one never knows?

Oh my yes! Absolutely love the exquisite writing! It is rather hard to read because of the history and the unbelievable things done to the children but so well worth the read!

I’ve made it about halfway through and really like it, but it’s an emotional gut-punch, to say the least.
