First Brown book I’ve read is DIGITAL FORTRESS and it’s really so good I couldn’t put it down. Da Vinci Code is also a good read. I started reading Angels and Demons, I dunno if it’s just me but it’s not as capturing as the first two books I mentioned. Maybe bcoz i watched the movie first.

In my opinion, this is one of the few times the movies are better, but I’m not a fan of his writing style.

I like Dan Brown, and I’ve read almost everything by him. I recommend his work, is it a great piece of literature? No, but they are entertaining and keeps you guessing. A lot of people bash him for his writing style, but he found a formula that works, most of his novel follow the same structure but it works for him and his fan base. So keep in mind Dan Brown is an acquired taste, but his millions followers show he captivates an audience, all these people can’t be wrong.

For a humorous twist, try what one reviewer said was “like an Irish The DaVinci Code.” WE THE WEE. An Odyssey To Know What’s Invisible. by Edward Myles Naylon. [ Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Google PLay, i-books]

I read the one which made all the fuss, The Da Vinci Code.
I do not know why I did that to myself, my masochist nature showing I guess.
I am a historian, I studied theology too and I had a hard time suspending all the things I have some knowledge of and just flow with the story. Which is weird since I often read fiction that defies all logic. The subject matter might have simply been too familiar to me.
If you like mystery books you might like it.

When is a book and a movie of the book not different?

1
Randy

I say read book and watch the movie that is BASED on the book have fun seeing which one you like best and why.

0
Xheng

Lol.. As for myself, I find it really bad that I have watched the movie first bcoz my mind constantly go back to the movie while reading instead of having my own image as to what the book is saying..

0
Ada

yes, Da Vinci Code is fun.
Angels and Demons is good.
Inferno – meh, I think Mr. Brown was phoning it in, coasting on his success. I saw so many basic grammar mistakes and it kinda read more like a travel book than an adventure story. if I was that big of an author, I’d probably relax a bit too, still, I’m not sure I’d get another one of his books.

Digit Fortress was one of my favorites, Deception Point is good. the Robert Langdon series is good but can be repetitive, but i did hate the Lost Symbol book.

Da Vinci code was my favorite. All of his books have the same peculiar style of writing. Totally worth the time. I have the feeling that I visited Vatican, Rome all the places described in his books without being there. People who actually visited could extract more joy of the descriptions and create different perceptions about the historical significance.

He tends to write short fast paced chapters that keep you moving along through the story with a quick pace even while leading you through some pretty complex plot twists involving everything form secret societies to Art History. I’ve read and enjoyed all his stuff. He also goes pretty deep in his work. I was at a talk that he gave and a person asked him a question regarding a secret code that he had built into his book (I think it was the Da Vinci Code). He wouldn’t answer to the crowd, but told the person he’d talk to him after the Q&A period. I still have no idea what they were talking about.

I haven’t read any for a while, but I loved the ones I read. It seems like every chapter ends on a cliffhanger, so you have to turn the page to see what happens and before you know it you’re halfway through the book ?
