My great-grandson is 3 and he really likes this book. Owl Moon by Jane Yolen. He also likes A Chair for My Mother (a Latina family), and also All the Places to Love (a farm family), by Patricia MacLachlan. I like to get him books that depict diversity of many kinds. A new book I just got him is called Neither, by Airlie Anderson.

I thought of one more – A Quiet Place, by Douglas Wood. About a quiet boy who has a good imagination. I used this book to talk about the quiet place we all have inside and sometimes we like to be there. Owen is a rowdy, extraverted three-year-old, but he got it.

Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus! is similar in feel to The Monster At The End of the Book. Kids love it because they get to say no to the character. It gives them a little power in a fun way.
