Yep , I read first couple of GOT about the time when there were only 3 written and have read all in the Outlander series . Both are great so the deciding factor would be are you in the mood for love or war ?
Game of thrones is more complicated because you have to keep up with a lot of characters( that are constantly added) and timelines. Outlander is easier that way. Both are amazing and both have a lot of books. Outlander is historical fiction where GOT is more fantasy/Middle Ages Engladish….. GOT is more brutal and shocking
Game of thrones if you like Russian novels with a cast of thousands. I have to create a note book defining characters and their relationships to one another. GoT is more complicated than any single Russian novel. Outlander centers on a narrow cast of characters, it is easy to remember relationships. Again, it all boils down to Love or War.
It depends on what you’re looking for, I read the first two Game of Thrones, and I’m just starting Outlander. GoT is written in a somewhat oblique manner, and I enjoyed it for a while, but found the characters/storylines difficult to keep straight, so, I stopped there. So far I like the writing style in Outlander, but I couldn’t tell you much else.
My feelings exactly, though I may be being unfair because to the best of my knowledge (unless I did back when it first came out), I’ve never read Outlander. LOVED GoT, though.
I would go for the Outlander Series, but that is because I have watched Game of Thrones, but if you haven’t seen either, still would start the Outlander Series.
I vote Outlander.
I didn’t like the Game of Thrones series, I thought it was too violent. (I know I’m in a minority on that though!)
I’ll vote for Game of Thrones to even put the voting! And because I really like the books! ?
Outlander! I am addicted! Love this series and the tv show!
GOT
Outlander!
That’s hard. Opposite ends. In the mood for war or romance?

Both have their merits tbh. I guess it depends if you’re more historical romance fiction or fantasy war fiction (Outlander and GOT respectively).
I LOVE historical fiction but I’ve never read fantasy and want to try something new.

Game of Thrones
Both!
If you like one, you’ll like the other.
I read Game of Thrones series this year and I plan on starting Outlander next year
Depends on how much blood you’re into.

I have read both series but Outlander is my go to series!!!
Catch up on game of throngs than outlander. Game of throngs is back now but outlander won’t be back till next 11th of month.
Definitely both, just start with whatever you like more. Romance or war!
Game of Thrones

Outlander
GoT for me, but I’m not a huge historical romance fan.

@Leslie same.
I love both. Outlander because I love Scotland and GoT because fantasy > everything else 🙂
Game of Thrones. If you’re looking to get into fantasy, it’s a fantastic place to start.
As a reader of primarily Fantasy since the early ’80’s, I could not possibly disagree more that GoT is a “fantastic” place to start reading fantasy.
I agree with Sonie. Starting with GoT as your first experience with fantasy would put most people off. Great story but not a first step xD
Watching it is different though.
They both have a wait for subsequent books but Outlander is BY FAR a better story by a better writer (imho).
Depends on what you’re going for.
Epic Fantasy or some a little more real.
Both are great, I prefer the Outlander books n the GOT tv series
GoT
Outlander
