I only read the first one. The second one is in my TBR pile. I really like the author’s writing. It was a very different genre for me so I went in with an open mind. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I was kind of dragging through it at least until the middle. It got much better in the second half. Then book 2 really got good!

It’s good. Better than the other two. Still feels original before she started overusing lines and scenarios.

I didn’t like the first one (Court of Thorns & Roses) & didn’t continue into the rest series. I have a friend who also didn’t like the 1st but loves all the rest of them so ?‍♀️

I think the 2nd book was my least favorite. I liked the 1st one, but loved the 3rd one, which also seems to be an unpopular opinion.

I did enjoy reading it, but I’m not interested enough to continue reading the series. No problem with the writing or the plot or anything, but it’s not got me hooked enough to make me read the whole series.

Couldn’t force myself to finish the first book. A few of my friends made it halfway through the second one before they gave up. Unpopular opinion but we all hated it, as well as what books we made it through in her other series.

Book 1 was torturous for me to get through. But I found books two and three to be much better.

Caylynn

Yeah I’ve heard that a lot. But my friends couldn’t stand the second book at all so I’m trusting their opinion.

Kym

@Caylynn the first 1/4 of the second book is very similar to the first book but it has its reasons and from then it’s a 180 degree turn around and really takes off. My issue with the second book is that all main characters have massive personality changes like she decided to go in a completely different direction from what she set out in the first book.

I found the first one to be really slow and it was really dragging but it picks up in the last 25% then books 2 & 3 are just fantastic.

Interesting take on a beauty and the beast retelling, worth the read, but really it’s laying the foundations for the other 2 books (the second of which makes the first look like child’s play!). Definitely worth reading, one of my fav authors, though I rate her throne of glass series more!

I’m not going to lie. I avoided this series like the plague for awhile because I didn’t want to be disappointed. Finally, I got it at the library so that if I was disappointed at least I didn’t pay anything out of pocket. Best thing I’ve read in awhile. I read the books in 3 days. I haven’t been that hooked on anything since Harry Potter. Love.
