I read because it takes you on an adventure. Real life can be difficult sometimes and reading helps that. You can go anywhere when you read.

The war, fantasy world, magic, tragedy, etc ect.

I read to concentrate on one thing. The book. My anxiety has my brain going a million miles a minute. Also….i like to experience other ppls WTF moments instead of mine for a change.

I think the greatest gift I have received from books is the development of empathy. I read about other lives and other cultures and come away knowing that we are all different, yet all of us are human beings. I hope I never become so enthralled by my own life as to turn a blind eye to the striving and suffering others.

Books always led me to visualize things better. I would always paint a picture and was just never one to be able to put down books, because I just wanted to stay there in that world. ☺

It’s a taste of a lite I can only imagine I’d have as well as an escape from the one I do have.
Plus it’s fun and depending on the ones you read holds knowledge can help you grow and learn things.

To me, as a student of literature, reading a text of any kind enables me to enter so many psychologies of many different and contradictory characters, to be able to try and scratch the surface of the inscrutable human mind and human nature.
