I read to concentrate on one thing. The book. My anxiety has my brain going a million miles a minute. Also….i like to experience other ppls WTF moments instead of mine for a change.
I love reading, always have! Pleasure is my first reason and learning new things is secondary! Reading transports me to different times, places and challenges my intellect!
My job is stressful, I find it difficult to leave work at work .. reading helps me unwind when I go to bed otherwise I’m thinking of what tomorrow might bring.
Books are my closest friends who open up to me only when I want to. Also it is my way to escape reality and live characters which otherwise does not fit in the practical world.
I think the greatest gift I have received from books is the development of empathy. I read about other lives and other cultures and come away knowing that we are all different, yet all of us are human beings. I hope I never become so enthralled by my own life as to turn a blind eye to the striving and suffering others.
Books always led me to visualize things better. I would always paint a picture and was just never one to be able to put down books, because I just wanted to stay there in that world. ☺
It’s a taste of a lite I can only imagine I’d have as well as an escape from the one I do have. Plus it’s fun and depending on the ones you read holds knowledge can help you grow and learn things.
For me reading books is like a great way to explore my mind and my logical thinking and when am reading I don’t get bored instead I find it hard to put my phone down
To me, as a student of literature, reading a text of any kind enables me to enter so many psychologies of many different and contradictory characters, to be able to try and scratch the surface of the inscrutable human mind and human nature.
Sometimes to escape, sometimes to learn stuff. Depends on the book and my mood!
To escape, to learn, books bring me a lot of joy
For the sheer pleasure. . .
Escape, relax, learn and expand.
Escape. Always to escape and immerse.
Because it’s a nasty habit my mother got me onto, like eating. I blame her.
Because I enjoy it
Pleasure, education, self improvement, learning empathy, fun, social networking (book club), escape and more….
To escape to another place, to improve my intelligence and have always loved books
First and foremost for enjoyment. If I learn something new that’s a big bonus.
Mostly because tv is limited & pretty much just sucks these days. Books can take you anywhere you want to go.
To escape
ditto all above
Escape. New perspective. Escape! ?
I read because it takes you on an adventure. Real life can be difficult sometimes and reading helps that. You can go anywhere when you read.
The war, fantasy world, magic, tragedy, etc ect.

To escape. To run away from life and the weight of the world.
To escape to another world
because i absolutely love reading & wd read anything?
I have found that I can learn something new from reading anything. All books don’t have to be great literature.
I like beautiful sentences, pensive thoughts, unusual characters, odd and atmospheric settings, unraveling psychological puzzles and the surprises.
Keeps me sane
I read to take a break from reality.
It keeps me from mindlessly scrolling through my phone
At first it was mainly to reduce my anxiety and still is but I also read before bed now to calm my mind.
Increase my vocabulary
Escape
My job is stressful, I find it difficult to leave work at work .. reading helps me unwind when I go to bed otherwise I’m thinking of what tomorrow might bring.
Reading relaxes my mind and body. I also enjoy the journey!

To relax, laugh, think, escape, visit new places
It is a positive ting to do.
Omg it’s like stepping into another world – wonderfully
To keep busy and to keep my mind strong.
My passion
Escapism.
My favorite hobby.
To distress
Escape.
To gain knowledge and for pleasure.
Entertainment and an escape. Reading is the only thing I do that I’m not trying to multitask or have a million things going through my mind.
Mostly as a form of escape
To escape!
It distracts me from being anxious.
It’s my escape from this crazy world.
I think books allows our imagination to soar, watching a film is great but doesn’t require any imagination, it’s all done for you ?
Enlightenment
Journey to a different place. Relax the outside noise. Peace of mind. Good company.
I read to visit different worlds; now I also travel to achieve the same goal.
It calms my mind, and takes me to a different place for awhile.
Its like breathing to me, I just do
I love the time away from everything.
Same and to live an adventure.
To escape reality
I read my last book to learn about a potential partners past!
Great stories, escaping a bad day, Great Fun
Relaxation, knowledge, escape, enjoyment and passion

I love a good yarn and I love learning new words.
Relaxing, inspiring

It’s very relaxing you can shut out the world
For me reading books is like a great way to explore my mind and my logical thinking and when am reading I don’t get bored instead I find it hard to put my phone down
Because they are so much better than movies
Pure escapism!
Escapism
To me, as a student of literature, reading a text of any kind enables me to enter so many psychologies of many different and contradictory characters, to be able to try and scratch the surface of the inscrutable human mind and human nature.
When I escape to another world I forget my troubles
To relax
It’s relaxing.
To experience different things, vicariously. To learn.
Mind travel
Food for my soul
Relaxes me. I have always had my nose in a book since I learned how to read.
To escape my every day
Escapism
