Pigs in Heaven because I love all of the characters, her writing is great, and the resolution at the end just and compassionate.

Of course, it’s good to read The Bean Trees first. Also very good.

Poisonwood Bible. Funny story, years ago I signed up to be a Book Giver for World Book Night. They shipped me 20 copies of the book to give out to random people. I offered it to one woman and she said, “Oh, honey, I’ve already been saved. Give your bible to someone else.” I always chuckle when I think of that.

I loved The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven but was left completely cold by The Poisonwood Bible. It is one of the few books I didn’t finish. That was many years ago and I wonder if I might react differently now – considering trying it again and seeing if my reaction will have changed.

Poisonwood Bible was her best book, in my opinion. I can’t get into her newer ones even though I love the subject matter.
