Favorite Barbara Kingsolver book?
Pigs in Heaven because I love all of the characters, her writing is great, and the resolution at the end just and compassionate.
Of course, it’s good to read The Bean Trees first. Also very good.
@Kathleen I love the Bean Trees. I have Pigs in Heaven but haven’t read it yet.
@Chelsea You have something wonderful to look forward to. Enjoy! 😀

Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer
LOVED Poisonwood Bible….. made me cherish the “small things” in life …. like a hair brush and cake mixes….
that was such a great visual – the cake mix floating down the river…

Definitely Poisonwood Bible.
Poisonwood Bible. Funny story, years ago I signed up to be a Book Giver for World Book Night. They shipped me 20 copies of the book to give out to random people. I offered it to one woman and she said, “Oh, honey, I’ve already been saved. Give your bible to someone else.” I always chuckle when I think of that.
I needed a good chuckle today and this did it! Thank you for sharing.
Agree on Poisonwood Bible but also liked her early books and Prodigal @Summer

Poison wood Bible
Hands down, Poisonwood Bible.
Animal, Vegetable Miracle — the book that sparked my interest in heirloom produce and the food industry in general.
I loved The Bean Trees and Pigs in Heaven but was left completely cold by The Poisonwood Bible. It is one of the few books I didn’t finish. That was many years ago and I wonder if I might react differently now – considering trying it again and seeing if my reaction will have changed.
Poisonwood Bible was her best book, in my opinion. I can’t get into her newer ones even though I love the subject matter.
I second that
Animal Dreams, the Bean Trees
I’ve read only Flight Behavior and enjoyed it
