I like both. For different times/activities.
Both. I read when I can read and I listen the rest of the time. I buy the Kindle and add on the audio a lot of the time.
Both for different reasons. I listen to audiobook at work and read at home
I love audiobooks for in the car or to listen to while I’m doing stuff around the house.
Do you find it at all hard to concentrate when listening to audiobooks?
At first a little bit, so I started out using audio to revisit books I’d already read until I got the hang of it.
I like my audiobooks because I can listen to them while I do the dishes or do some ironing ??
You can try an audiobook through your library with Libby or hoopla
I don’t like listening to books. I want to read. Maybe for traveling in the car…
Kindle
I prefer kindle reading but I have so much more time for audiobooks so I listen to significantly more audiobooks then kindle books
I like audio to listen to in the car and when I am exercising. I like Kindle for travel and good deals on books. And I like the actual book so I can share.
I would like audio books better if the readers would just READ. Unfortunately many of them feel they are required to put on characters voices, and these voices are hugely distracting. I prefer not to feel I am listening to a screenplay. Simply being read to by someone who is a good reader is so pleasant. Listening to Wolf Hall right now and the reader’s corny voices spoil the imagining for me. Anyone else feel this way?
@Cynthia that’s the biggest downfall i have any time I’ve tried listening to one
@Ashley Same here. The thing I enjoy most about reading is using my own imagination to see what the author wants me to see. And a reader’s corny characterizations gets in the way and ruins that.
I prefer a bit of inflection/different voices for different characters, otherwise it all just muddles together.
Full cast audiobooks are some of my favorites.
@Corinne you and a lot of other people, apparently, to judge by the popularity of them. I just watch the movie if I want that experience.
Yes!! I haven’t found a narrator that I like. Sometimes it just doesn’t sound like I pictured, but I can get over that. It’s when they do all the impression, like the female “male voice” that ruin it!
@Nicole yes, that’s the worst! Also the croaky, raspy old person. Yuk.
@Cynthia yes! I mean I kind of want the different voices because it breaks it up and makes it seem more real. But I just wish I could find someone good at impressions. Or just actually use a male voice for the male park and female for the female parts…
Is that what full cast audiobooks are? How do you find those?
Nicole Chappell right now I’m listening to In the Grip of It, and the male parts are read by a guy and the female is read by a woman. That’s not too bad. And neither of them over act what they are reading. But many professional readers do way too much hamming it up for me.
both – ebook on my way to work in public transport, audio while doing sports
Kindle.. I have 5 kids, and I think the only time I get peace and quiet is when they’re all in bed
Both!
Kindle. I don’t like the way audio books sound ?
I read when I can but at work I am alone all night and I listen to my books. I use kindle unlimited and some books have the audio cheap or included
I prefer audio when driving and while I’m in the kitchen cooking/dishes. If I’m not busy I prefer to read myself.

I downloaded hoopla off of one of your recommendations, gonna try an audiobook from there to see if i can get into them at all! Thank you everyone
I’ve been working on listening to more audiobooks! I read any way I can.
kindle. i’m still trying to adjust to audio books. Got my first two last month.
Kindle
I am too easily distracted when I listen. I miss too much. Love my kindle.
Both, and real books too. I listen to books while I work, so I can try to not fall to far behind on all the books I want to read
Ebook all the way
I like both, but prefer ebooks because of the dictionary function and it fits in my purse
I am considering audio books…its good to hear likes and dislikes
Both. Audio is good during my commute
I don’t follow the story as well with audio books so I’m an ebook/paperback reader.
From Lukov with Love is a good audiobook. The narrators were so good..
I just started listening to audio books this year. I like them for when I’m cleaning around the house, or commuting alone.
When I can I do both. The audible versions sync with the kindle version. I love reading along while being read to.
I spend so much time at the computer, audio books are refreshing. Pretty much listen to audio all the time. I love it! Plus, if you buy the Kindle version, often there’s an offer to add audio for a reasonable price. Kindle will sync with audio so you can do both. There’s nothing like being read to by a professional reader/actor. Let us know how you like it. P.S. Don’t be dismayed if you lose focus a few times. You have to train your brain to listen.
I listen to books to and from work–about an hour per day.
Born a Crime is my favorite.
