Use a spiral bound notebook and note page and line number, if you are concerned about defacing the book or space to write

@Tori I write on a 4×6 index card, which also serves as a bookmark, then leave in the book when done.

I find annotating especially useful if there are a large number of characters or the names are foreign. Helps me keep everyone straight! Read a book recently that introduced 30 characters in first 24 pages!

I never thought about the amount of characters, and trying to keep track. I’m currently reading a library book, but I’m obsessed with it, so I have it on order. Lol while I’m waiting for my copy, I have post-it’s and slips of paper everywhere in this book. I’m still debating if I’m going to write in it, or just keep with the sticky notes, for this one at least.

Only in digital form. I don’t have the heart to hurt a real book like that.
