Last year I was really bad at this. I was always really scattered and reading 7-8 at a time. I felt like I was never finishing any of the books that I started.

This year my goal is to focus and read one book at a time. I’m doing really good! I’ve finished 14 books so far. My goal was 52 for the year – I think it helped to set that high of a goal, because I’ve been uber focused the last few weeks! Lol ?

If I’m reading something that is very intense, then I will also read something else for levity.

Yeah. I love self development type books but I miss reading fiction when I’m reading them so I usually have one of each on the go at the same time.

I am the same way. I have a physical book, an ebook, and an audiobook I am reading and then sometimes I am doing a beta read too. I find it helpful that way so I always have a book no matter what I am doing. Plus, my TBR pile is too big not to. LOL

1
Christina

@Nevah what is a beta read? ?

0
Nevah

I read a story in development from a writer to find errors in story lines and plots. (I am a writer as well so it is nice to give back)

Not normally, but I was reading Don’t You Cry by Cass Green, which I borrowed from a digital library and deleted it by mistake. Someone else borrowed it so now I have to wait until it becomes available again. Didn’t want to wait around for that so have started my next book.

I do occasionally (there was a time i was reading 3 or 4 at a time, so if I got tired of reading one, i would go to another one i was reading, etc.) but lately I’ve been reading just one at a time. Maybe i’ll go back to multiple books again sometime

I only read one book at a time for my own reading. I often teach four separate novels/plays at a time. Imagine going from Tess of the D’Urbervilles to Unbroken to Macbeth and then to Ethan Frome from period to period.

I’m usually a one-book-at-a-time person, but lately I have been switching between two at a time. The only reason I’ve been doing that is because I have both physical books and kindle books to choose from. I read the physical books typically at home during the day, and I read my kindle books when I’m traveling or when it’s dark.
