I love browsing the library when I’m feeling like picking up something completely random and new off the shelf that I might not want to buy straight away, or if I need the next book in a series faster than I can purchase it.
I love the library booksale that they have each year because on the final day you can fill a box for $6 or a bag for $3. This is where I get the bulk of my books.
I love Thriftbooks for just about everything else because they’re cheap and amazing for high-quality used books.
I love libraries but unfortunately there are none here in Greece (only a few for reference use) si I tend to buy my books new which is why I don’t have a huge tbr pile! Whenever I go home to the UK I love going to charity shops and getting secondhand books.
Bookstore ideally, but I live in a rural area and there’s only one bookstore nearby. It’s not a particularly big store and doesn’t have a huge selection, so I order online quite a lot too.
I get all my books on Kindle right now because there are no English libraries or bookstores near where I live. It takes like three weeks to get mail and I can’t wait that long haha
Bookstore or online. I love the smell of new books. They should have that as a fragrance. Yankee Candle should have new book smell as one of the candles it sets the mood and smells great. Why not?
Library, hands down. If I like the book and know I will read it again, I buy it. If not, the library copy is all I need. I only read online if there is no other option. I really love the sensory interaction with the book.
Don’t know how to go online.I buy new ones once in awhile at Sams. I buy them used,or go to library. Between my house and garage I have over a thousand books I haven’t read.I used to own a used bookstore
I’m using my library more often now as I try to read the unread books I own, but, for buying, I prefer bookshops, because I prefer to support them rather than online sites that sell other things, though sometimes online shops have books I can’t get easily at shops. So I do use all three 🙂
I could not possibly afford to buy all the books I read so I borrow quite a few from the library. Recently I have also been using Scribd to read some of them online but I do buy quite a few as well. I always scout the books at garage sales, thrift shops, etc.
Buy online and your bookstore closes. So does your library. Then all the people who aren’t as rich as you and can’t afford to buy books won’t be able to read. Use your library! Shop locally! 🙂
Coming from a low income household libraries were and still are extremely important to me.Tasmania has recently ditched fines for late books. A library spokesperson stated there were a lot of valid reasons for people not returning books on time, such as lack of transport and illness, and they should not be punished for it. and says access to books should never be about the ability to pay. “One of the greatest equalisers in our community is being able to access knowledge … so having libraries really open and available is an absolute basic need for people living on the lowest of incomes.”
I prefer the library but I read Kindle almost exclusively now because my eyes adjust to it better. So I buy a lot online when they don’t carry something I just HAVE to read!
I used to buy lots of books but as at 2018, I vowed to stop buying until I finish reading all the books currently on my shelf. I have 193 out 334 books to go!
Yes. For two reasons. 1) No Cost. 2) I make a bee-line for the returned -books section , where books returned during the day are kept temporarily, before they are put in their shelf space. I get to see the creamy books at one shot!
Indie bookstores are my favorite.
That being said, I’m trying to collect the entire Barnes and Noble leather bound collectibles collection, so I’ll buy them a little at a time.
Anywhere I can get them!
Yes
Bookstore
Bookstore or online. I honestly do not go to the library as often as I would like.
Library when funds are low. But the books I wanna collect go to the bookstore. Online for backup reads.
Bookstore!! But getting them online is cheaper so I do that more often
Second hand store. I’ve loved so many books I otherwise would never have known existed, so many POV’s I’d never thought of.
always ordering used books on amazon 🙂
