Depends on the book. Some I just can’t wait to find out what happens. Some, especially books about the intersection of science/nature and spirituality/religion I savor.
Here too? Well right now since I’m trying to read as many books as I can for the great american read, I try to read as fast as I can, however that usually means taking my time because I have to rush every minute for work, why am I going to do that for my “leisure”?
I don’t feel like the pace of reading effects my enjoyment of the book at all, I tend to be a pretty fast reader but go through phases where it seems to take a lot longer to finish a book.
I read rather slow and for the most part I enjoy reading slow because the book comes alive in my mind, but I do wish I could read faster whenever the book is not enjoyable
For me it all depends, I have severe ADHD, so when my attention is truly sucked into a book I dont like to give that up, but I do get sad when I finish a good book too soon. Takes me a bit to get rid of my book hangover ?
I treat it like a zen thing… rushing to fit more into the time may cause us to miss the qualities of the moment… but if the read isn’t an enriching experience, leave it for one that is.
Slow and savor and form hypotheses and look up words/incidents. I don’t understand racing thru a book, as if it means staving off boredom by losing time. I enjoy the learning experience that even the trashiest book offers.
I like to savor the words, but I am not what you would call a slow reader. I am not one of those speed readers either. I don’t think that you can fully appreciate the words if you don’t read them all.
If I love it I take my time. If I find I’m thinking more about what I’m reading next I read faster. Unfortunately the night circus is that for me right now! I thought it would be one to savor
Depends on the book
I just read slow period. So I guess I’m a slow & savor type of chick lol!
Hello fellow conversation starter.
M a fast reader but it depends on the book sometimes
depends on the book, my mood, and what’s going on at the time.
Hello fellow conversation starter.
Hi, John.
We have a coffee cup beside our name , lol !!
Hope it’s hot coffee!
Generally fast!
It depends on the story!
I like a book that pulls me in and makes me want to read fast!
Fast
depends on the book
I am a fairly show reader.
I can read fast – I read 52 books last year – but usually I read slower, 1 to 2 a month.
Fast
Slow.
Slow and savor and think about what I read after I’m finished.
Slow and savor for me. Think about what I’m reading and turn it round in my mind for awhile
Depends, but generally, if the book is good, slow and savor.
I tend to back up a page or two once in awhile during a story to re-read something interesting or when I’m confused so I would say slow
Depends what kind of mood I’m in
Fast
I try to read slow, but it’s hard for me lol
When the writing is especially fine, I read slow. When the story is unusually gripping, I read fast.
I just read. Never really think, “Hey, I’m going to read fast tonight.”
Perfectly inbetween, fast enough that im not waisting time but slow enough to not miss any detail and can still soak in whats happening
Depends on the book
Slow. How can you enjoy the book if you just want to move to the next?
Savor!
I am not a fast reader…
If its an epic, I like to draw it out, especially if I’m reading it in the fall/winter.
Both. Depends on the book and my mood.
I don’t know how to read slow.
Fast!
Usually savor.
truly depends on the book and how interesting it is. occasionally i end up doing both in the same book.
fast, but depends oon the book.
Fast! But I’ve been taking Outlander slow :).
Slow and savor thank you
Depends on the book. Some I just can’t wait to find out what happens. Some, especially books about the intersection of science/nature and spirituality/religion I savor.
Slow
It depends on what type of book it is. If it’s a mystery, then I cannot wait to get to the end so I will read much more quickly.
slow and enjoy
Slow usually… or fast if it’s real boring book!
Read slowly, ruminate, reflect ,take notes- reading books is a serious matter for me.
I’m a fast reader I don’t know how to read slow
Slow and savor – sometimes take notes
Fast
Slow
Depends on the book. Religion spirituality I savor
Depends on the book. Thrillers are paced differently than poetry.

I can read fast, but I take my time so I can immerse myself in the story and enjoy it.
I don’t feel like the pace of reading effects my enjoyment of the book at all, I tend to be a pretty fast reader but go through phases where it seems to take a lot longer to finish a book.
I like and prefer slower and enjoy it but I can read fast as well. 🙂
I read classics slow. I read modern books like lightning.
Slowly I prefer
Slow, I even re~read pages to make sure I got every bit of info
Slow
A bit of both
All great things can’t be rushed in my opinion
Read slow and savoury books
I don’t plan my pace, I just read and enjoy. Sometimes the book goes faster than others.
Slow
I read rather slow and for the most part I enjoy reading slow because the book comes alive in my mind, but I do wish I could read faster whenever the book is not enjoyable
It the other way around for me, the more I like the story, the faster I read. And if I don’t like the story, I just quit.
Some books make you put down for a few moments and take pause
True .I’ve come across books like that.
Fast or more than 1 book at a time
Slow
For me it all depends, I have severe ADHD, so when my attention is truly sucked into a book I dont like to give that up, but I do get sad when I finish a good book too soon. Takes me a bit to get rid of my book hangover ?
I honestly don’t know how to read slow. I read fast naturally. :/
Of course slow.
I treat it like a zen thing… rushing to fit more into the time may cause us to miss the qualities of the moment… but if the read isn’t an enriching experience, leave it for one that is.
Slow
That’s a leading question
Slow
I don’t try to read fast, I just get so caught up in a book that I can’t put it down and end up finishing it within a matter of hours.
Slow and savor and form hypotheses and look up words/incidents. I don’t understand racing thru a book, as if it means staving off boredom by losing time. I enjoy the learning experience that even the trashiest book offers.
I read usually read fast.
Slow

A little bit of anything.
I think each book sets its own pace, but for the ones rushing to finish a book by ..next Sunday? -what’s the rush?!
I just read. Idk.
Sometimes I rhyme slow,
Sometimes I rhyme quick,quick….
Sometimes I read slow,
Sometimes I read fast, fast…
Depends on the book
I want to read slow & savor but I end up blazing through stories faster than I want to.
Fast as I can retain it.
Both
As a Logophile, I like to read leisurely and luxuriate in the lushness of our language.
Right on. Some suthors ate elegant while others are wordy.
I used to speed read everything but I realised I enjoy a book more if I take my time.
Both. Depending on how the prose moves and if it is mostly narrative, dialogue, or both.
I like to devour them until I’m near the end. Sometimes I can’t help, but devour it if its a good book.
A bit of both
If I love it I take my time. If I find I’m thinking more about what I’m reading next I read faster. Unfortunately the night circus is that for me right now! I thought it would be one to savor
Slow and savor
If I really get into the story I have a difficult time putting it down.
It depends on the mood
Slow. Although, some books are like water flowing, you just can’t help reading through them quickly!
Fast..faster….
I tend to read faster as I get more & more into the book. When I re-read, I take my time.
