Also I borrow the passes that lets you get into museums and other attractions. We all got to go to Mystic Seaport half price and the Air Museum. I always call ahead to see if they have it for that day. In my town they are first come first serve.
YES!!!!!!! ? I LOVE that you can put stuff on hold. We check out books, and DVDs. My 5 year old daughter likes playing in the kids area, and playground.
I love my local library. I’m there about every two weeks to pick up new and return read. Love their interlibrary services for books hard to find and I often grab a DVD or two.
I try to get into my small town library at least once a week.. everyone on staff is a personal friend, and I enjoy visiting them, even if I dont have “library business.” Great place, greater people..
Absolutely easy! I also recommend that while you’re at it, ask for a State Library card as well. This allows access to ebooks and audiobooks that your regular library card does not.. also allows access to genealogy resources as well as other materials I don’t know about.. it’s a pretty cool thing, a state library card.
That’s probably true.. I just know how it is in Kansas.. my local library card allows access to one database, while the State Library card is for another. There are overlapping titles available, but the checkout times and access is different. With the local card, I can only borrow and ebook if nobody else in the state has it checked out.. with the state card, there are no such limits..and they have many more titles than the other database,
@Vicki wow! I’m in Brisbane, Australia. We have access to thousands of downloadable e and e audio books, magazines, music & a heap of databases. We are very lucky in that our government is so supportive of our tole in our beautiful city
Yes, I get my book from the library. I have always loved going to libraries, starting with the Book Mobile when I was in elementary school I have a lot of books that I purchased, but I live in a small space and, to save money, I borrow most of the time.
All the time. My kids love going to the library. Over the summer we went every week, they had a different program for the kids. Next week they have a magician for our towns annual celebration and authors on the patio. I want to join one of the book clubs at the library but their schedule is not conducive to mine.
Used to but now prefer charity shops & EBay so I don;t have a time limit, however, I do miss a meander around the library but I know I could never go without bringing a dozen books home with me 😀
Always. I hate buying books w/o reading them first. But I don’t spend more than usually ten minutes in libraries anymore. For one reason, libraries are never quiet anymore. They’re very loud, like inside of the mall loud. People talking loudly, cell phones ringing, children yelling and screaming, exc.
Our library does a good job of trying to keep the noise level down. The kids section is on the opposite side of the library from the study tables and the computers are right in front of the information desk so they try to get people to use headphones or have no sound. They even have headphones you can borrow or buy.
Oh yes. I don’t have the space or budget for all of the books my son wants read to him. And I wouldn’t have known about a lot of books had I not seen them at the library.
Yep, I borrow books. My friend and I swap books a lot, then they go to the charity shop. But sometimes she gives me a book that is part of a series so I get the first one(s) from the library.
Books

Never heard of this! Will have to check it out to see if this service is available locally. Great idea
Books…..when i should really read what i have at home lol
Same lol
Ditto!!!!! ?
I have over 600 books in our flat to read….really must start reading some of them lol
Same lol
Oh, @Kelly, I’m right there with you and others commenting here. I have so many books at home to read, but I still seem to find myself in the library.
YES!!!!!!! ? I LOVE that you can put stuff on hold. We check out books, and DVDs. My 5 year old daughter likes playing in the kids area, and playground.
Me too. Can do it right online and get a text when it’s ready for pickup lol
Best. Thing. EVER!!!!!
Not so much anymore. I just can’t stand having to return them lol
I have the exact same problem 😛
Yes, I’m usually late.
I used to borrow quite often.
But over the years, I started buying books.
And stopped visiting the library as much.
Recently borrowed several.
I haven’t been to my local library in years. That actually makes me very sad. My books would always be overdue though because I’m a very slow reader!
Online books. No overdue fees!
I’m always late in returning, @Tracy.
I love my local library. I’m there about every two weeks to pick up new and return read. Love their interlibrary services for books hard to find and I often grab a DVD or two.
Books, comics, graphic novels, movies, tickets to local museums! 🙂
Yes!!
I try to get into my small town library at least once a week.. everyone on staff is a personal friend, and I enjoy visiting them, even if I dont have “library business.” Great place, greater people..
Yes
Books, cds, occasionally DVDs
I don’t have a library card.
Very easy to get 😉

Depends on where you are. My library service gives you all those things & more

So easy to get. I hope you do, @Briana!

Yes. I have ta sck of books from there now.

I do make sure I purchase from a local bookstore when I am away to support local bookstores!!
Locally owned businesses totally rock! Personalized service, and just being LOCAL, is a valuable asset to any community.
Yes, love borrowing from my library. I work there too. But even before I would borrow books from the library. Love reading on my Nook too.
Of course.

Yes!! Books and DVDs .
No. I used to. But I’m kind of a book hoarder and like to keep the ones I love so I buy from thrift stores mostly
Our library sells used books at the checkout. $1 for hardcover & $.50 for paperback
I love our libraries used bookstores!
I don’t.
I usually buy books and keep them.
I love to return to the pages when I’m feeling depressed.
Books and DVDs.

That’s true…they are much louder. People even at games on computers with sound up?

I’m jealous, @Lorrea . The only library that’s quiet in my city is the main downtown, which is a 15-20 min drive for me.
@Cathy yep, it’s atrocious what the libraries have become.
My hubby was trying to study…I can block it out, he can’t. Of course, I wasnt studying ?
Books and audio books
I’ve borrowed books and movies….and our libraries also have used books for sale!
Always but then I manage a bookmobile so I am surrounded by books on a daily basis!
Books, DVDs, audiobooks
Yes. I love my library.
No, I used to, but now for some idiotic reason I’d rather buy books.
Same. I buy way more than I should be
absolutely
Books
Although I have a library card, I don’t visit often. I prefer to buy my books, CD’s and movies.
Im trying to do better and use library…only buy what I plan to keep. I dunnno!
Oh yes. I don’t have the space or budget for all of the books my son wants read to him. And I wouldn’t have known about a lot of books had I not seen them at the library.
two/week
My favorite place! All four branches.
Books and audio books.
Yes! I love the library.
I always used to borrow books from the library growing up & for a good few years, I don’t now?
Not as often as I should
E books…constantly
Kindle chic all the way
from time to time … specially for the authors and books that Im not sure that I want to buy
Oh yes! Books, tablets for the littles, movies, ebooks….all kinds of things! Kind of a prerequisite since I work there! Lol
Best job ever!?
Yes it is! Been there 16 yrs and wouldn’t change it for the world!
I donate and take books from the donation area. Ofyen I find books I wanted to read…for free!
Only books but it isn’t as it was a couple of years ago. Now there is a machine to check the books in and out. I miss the personal touch and banter.
