I’m a nurse and never heard of them! I kind of wanted to go into the medical field because I loved Dr Crusher on Star Trek and thought she was bad ass ? Right now I am reading a book I think all nurses should read… The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down. Every medical professional should read it. I’ll have to check out the Cherry Ames books ?
I loved those books and I wanted to become a nurse while reading them. Then I spent 6 weeks in the hospital with a broken leg (age 8)and that ended it for me! Loved Florence Nightingale biographies, too! Became a teacher and never looked back. Even After reading Up The Down Staircase and To Sir, With Love.
I never read Cherry Ames, I was a Nancy Drew fan. But I became a nurse because I was in college, had no idea what to do, and saw nursing students walking across the quad and thought, maybe I could do that, I would always have a job. So almost 40 years later, I can say it has been a great career.
Ha! Love it. I became a nurse 10 years ago because I was fed up with insurance ?. What are these Cherry Ames books? And btw, I too was a HUGE Nancy Drew fan!
I loved them when I was young. I would walk to the local library in our small town and check them out. I work in health care but did not become a nurse.
Actually it did influence me to become a nurse
I believe they are still available.
I read them all. But I became a teacher.

Cherry Ames was back in the day of Nancy Drew. If you grew up in yhe 50s or 60s you would know them.
@Barbara I grew up in the 90’s, so I guess that explains why I didn’t know it, lol. My mom really loved Nancy Drew!
Sue Barton, Student Nurse. But I too became a teacher!
I was a nurse for 25 years and then went into teaching.
Teaching nursing or something else?

Might have had something to do with it! I enjoyed that series, as well as the Sue Barton books, and I DID become a nurse, way back in the sixties!
I decided early- not sure why, but I was aware of Cherry Ames!
Me, too. But I was a candy striper!
When I went back to school and got my nursing degree at age 50, my mom got me a vintage full set of Cherry Ames. I treasure it!
