Cassandra Clare’s books have a lot of LGBT+ characters.
Her new one, The Red Scrolls of Magic, and The Bane Chronicles are the most queer, but all of them have a lot, especially her Dark Artifices series.

Also, Tamora Pierce has a few in both her universes and I second Six of Crows.

Reign of the Fallen by Sarah Glenn Marsh is about a bisexual, WOC protagonist

1

Brigid

Carry On. Anything by Shaun David Hutchinson or Malinda Lo. Tamora Pierce started strong for her time, but fell short. Cassandra Clare’s books have key queer characters, and Sarah Maas’ books get queer characters if you keep reading.

Becky Albertini if you like contemporary.

Pierce’s Emelan universe definitely does better with having protagonist LGBT characters. I think she has a trans character in her Bekka Cooper books, too.
Could definitely be better, but she definitely has a fair bit of representation in there.

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue isn’t exactly fantasy but it takes place in an older world

@Guardians, although you don’t really find out they’re lgbt in the 1st book. You’ll probably guess in book 2, but the romance doesn’t really take off until book 3 :p

Oh! not YA but NK Jemisin’s The Fifth Season has incredible all-around représentation Not queer centered but characters are queer, poly, trans, etc in a casual, normalizing way. It also centers around POC. And she won the Hugo three years in a row for each successive book in this series so..

The Magnus Chase books by Rick Riordan have a couple of queer main characters. Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus series and Trialls of Apollo series also have queer characters (ESPECIALLY ToA), though you have to read the Percy Jackson books first to understand those series.
