Six of crows by Leigh Bardugo They both Die in the end by Adam Selvera Upside of unrequited by Becky Albertali Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard Every heart a doorway by Seanan McGuire The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare Simon vs. by Becky Albertali
Cassandra Clare’s books have a lot of LGBT+ characters. Her new one, The Red Scrolls of Magic, and The Bane Chronicles are the most queer, but all of them have a lot, especially her Dark Artifices series.
Carry On. Anything by Shaun David Hutchinson or Malinda Lo. Tamora Pierce started strong for her time, but fell short. Cassandra Clare’s books have key queer characters, and Sarah Maas’ books get queer characters if you keep reading.
Pierce’s Emelan universe definitely does better with having protagonist LGBT characters. I think she has a trans character in her Bekka Cooper books, too. Could definitely be better, but she definitely has a fair bit of representation in there.
@Guardians, although you don’t really find out they’re lgbt in the 1st book. You’ll probably guess in book 2, but the romance doesn’t really take off until book 3 :p
Oh! not YA but NK Jemisin’s The Fifth Season has incredible all-around représentation Not queer centered but characters are queer, poly, trans, etc in a casual, normalizing way. It also centers around POC. And she won the Hugo three years in a row for each successive book in this series so..
All of Adam Silvera and Shawn David Hutcheson’s books are. Also Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sans. I may have spelled his name wrong lol. Ooh and Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera Gentlemen’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee Lady’s Guide to petticoats and piracy by mackenzi lee The seven husbands of evelyn hugo by taylor jenkins reid The red scrolls of magic by cassandra clare and wesley chu Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff The riger’s daughter by K. Arsenault Rivera
The Magnus Chase books by Rick Riordan have a couple of queer main characters. Riordan’s Heroes of Olympus series and Trialls of Apollo series also have queer characters (ESPECIALLY ToA), though you have to read the Percy Jackson books first to understand those series.

A Darker Shade of Magic
Cassandra Clare’s books have a lot of LGBT+ characters.
Her new one, The Red Scrolls of Magic, and The Bane Chronicles are the most queer, but all of them have a lot, especially her Dark Artifices series.

Pierce’s Emelan universe definitely does better with having protagonist LGBT characters. I think she has a trans character in her Bekka Cooper books, too.
