Are you looking for high fantasy or urban fantasy? Because I’ve got tons of recommendations for both and I don’t wanna flood your post ?

Joni

Same hahahha

1
RabiaQuestion author

? what’s the difference lol, flood away! I like there to be a great plot along with a intense romance, like steamy but not too smutty to where I cringe lol

0
Joni

The bargainer series, throne of glass, a court of thorns and roses, wintersong, the rose and the dagger (I’m a sucker for 1001 nights retellings), Fever series

2
Joni

An ember in the ashes

1
RabiaQuestion author

ToG and ACOTAR are in my top favorites

3
Beth

I also second TOG, ACOTAR, and Fever series!! Loved those too!

4
RabiaQuestion author

I’m trying to read as many books I can until KoA comes out, the wait is killing me!! ?

2
Joni

Fever just ❤️❤️ the ninth one will make you cry like a baby though. You’ve been warned

1
Channing

Urban fantasy is more set in our world that we know, and high fantasy is set in a world made up by the author.

The Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout
A Court of Thorns and Throne of Glass Roses by SJM
An Ember in the Ashes (although the romance is a slow burn and isn’t front and center, it’s a good one)
The Winner’s Curse trilogy
The Darkness/The Collectors/The Lightness Saga by Stacey Marie Brown (all separate series, but all related and intertwined).
The Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi
The Arcana Chronicles
The Sweet Evil series
TMI/TID/TDA
The Bargainer Series
The Touched Saga by Elisa S. Amore

5
Joni

Also, the first three aren’t that great in the Fever series. Stick with it though!

1
Channing

The Starcrossed trilogy by Josephine Angelini

4

I’m planning on starting winners curse soon. Oh! Read Roar! That book is amazing too

Rhapsodic, the Bargainer series by Laura Thalassa

1
Channing

The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series. It’s kind of a fusion between urban and high fantasy. It’s a genre all of it own lol.

4
Channing

The Selection series. It’s kinda fluffy and not my cup of tea, but a lot of people love it.

2
RabiaQuestion author

I enjoyed the selection series lol, keep em coming ?

1
Joni

@Channing I need to read that, I just read Strange the Dreamer last month. It was really slow to start but picked up I’m still devastated

1
Channing

The Significance series by Shelly Crane

1
Channing

These Broken Stars trilogy

1
Channing

The Fallen series by Lauren Kate. Not my favorite, but I still suggest it to people because a lot of people loved it. As well as Hush Hush

2
Channing

Passengers by Alexandra Bracken is fun and not mentioned nearly as much as it should be.

1
Channing

White Hot Kiss and the Wicked series by J. Armentrout

1
Channing

Outlander? It’s not ya, but it’s about as passionate of a romance as you’re ever gonna get, lol.

4
RabiaQuestion author

The wicked series has me intrigued ?

0
Channing

@Rabia It’s super good, but I’m biased because I generally worship all things Jennifer Armentrout, lol.

I just read this too! It was so good!
Wanted to add that I listened to the audiobook and it’s full cast, which was amazing! So if you like audiobooks too then this one is great!

2
Dianne

@Joni I love Po ❤️

2
Joni

@Christie omg me too! The full cast was great! I wish they had kept it for the other two

2
Dianne

@Christie I don’t listen to audiobooks but if it’s that good then I might with this one!

1
Joni

I just started about a month ago myself because I have a long commute now. They’ve really grown on me

1
Joni

@Dianne if you do, audible does a free trial where you get two free credits. Use it on that because it’s like $30 otherwise hahaha

1
Dianne

@Joni ok, thank you!

0
Christie

@Dianne I was able to check out the audiobook from my library through an app so that’s a great free option if your library offers it. I don’t usually care for audiobooks but with the full cast it was so immersive I really loved it!

1
Christie

@Joni I agree. I was so disappointed to find out the other two were not full cast. I am still wanting to read them but I’m planning on reading the physical book rather than the audiobook for those.

Miranda Honfleur’s Blade and Rose series is epic fantasy romance – its not YA as there are adult situations, but each book follows a different couple and together tell an overarching story.

I know you said YA but the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is amazing. It’s considered adult but there’s not really a lot in the smut department. And Adam is probably the second best thing about the series because Mercy is the best lol (she’s just so relatable to me personally lol).

2
Reply
Necessittee

The first book is Moon Called I believe, I’ll go look to be sure

1
Necessittee

Ok went and checked and it is indeed called Moon Called lol

1
RabiaQuestion author

Sounds like something I’d read ? What’s it about?

0
Necessittee

About a coyote shifter (Mercy), getting dragged into all sorts of magical shenanigans. It has werewolves, fae, vampires, and more.

0
Kala

Ben debating starting this. Its a really long series is it worth it

1
Necessittee

I definitely think so!

0
Sharelle

Once you get into Mercy Thompson’s series, for the ultimate romance, read Alpha and Omega Series. It’s a spin off. And the love in that series is wonderful

What is the black mage about?

0
Fatima

@Rabia It is about a girl named Ryiah who goes to an academy almost full of highborns (there are lowborns as well but only about a quarter) to learn magic. The academy has extreme training and only 15 apprentices are chosen, five from each faction (alchemy, restoration and combat). She as all other low borns is believed to drop out early. She is fighting /training for combat, the most prestigious faction which also contains the king’s second born, non-heir as he is known, Darren and due to bad first meeting /impressions is determined that she does not succeed and not to forget he is a prodigy and devoted to magic. It follows Ryiah’s fight for the apprenticeship, their hatred, their erratic rapport, how the non heir helps her and their amazing story continues. Sorry it was so long.

1
Fatima

Here’s the synopsis. There’s a beautiful love story though you need to be patient through the first 2 books since real action and plot twists start from then on.

There’s a short story anthology called My True Love Gave to Me. I’ll admit, I haven’t finished it (because it takes me forever to finish anthologies) BUT the stories I did read were amazing. It’s not all fantasy, but even the contemporary stories were worth reading.

TID isn’t a passionate relationship at all lol! It’s the most annoying, badly written love triangle out there ???.

1
Jennifer

@Hannah I respect your opinion but the comment is about what I would recommend to read. You may not like the series but that doesn’t mean that someone else won’t.

0
Hannah

I’m just saying that TID didn’t have a passionate relationship because it didn’t.

0
Jennifer

I think that it depends on the idea or opinion of the reader.

0
Hannah

I don’t know how anyone could possibly call that relationship “passionate”.

0
Jennifer

@Hannah We can agree to disagree then.

1
Lisa

@Jennifer I love Infernal Devices and Tessa, Will, and Jem’s relationships 😀 I love how much they each care for each other and Will and Jem never stopped being best friends and parabatai because of a girl, they just both loved Tessa 😀

1

@Lisa Thank you for saying that. I love the main characters and their relationships throughout the series.
