Have you read Terry Pratchett? If not, try Guards! Guards!, Men At Arms, Night Watch – hell, any of the Sam Vimes books.

Crime and Punishment – the ultimate crime novel!

For sci-fi, Flowers For Algernon.

Actually, look up the Science Fiction Masterworks and Crime Masterworks imprints, published via Orion or Gollancz – I forgot which, but both provide a wide and varied list of excellent examples in their respective genres.

The Fifth Season. The Girl With all the Gifts.

John Scalzi. He has become my favorite Sci Fi writer. Try Old Man’s War or Fuzzy Nation. Redshirts is also good. Have you read Ready Player One? It’s really good and a fun read.

Kurt Vonnegut.

I like Gaiman’s books because of his positive world view. He celebrates cultural diversity.

11-22-63 by Stephen King. I am NOT a fan of him, but this one is so interesting. Not his usual style. I drug all 900 pages of it all over Thailand with me! https://www.amazon.com/11-22-63-Stephen-King/dp/1501120603

So many great books, too little time. I loved Practical Magic, The Help, Low Country, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Beekeeper’s Apprentice, P.S. I Love You, Tara Road, and then there are the classics.
