If you like reading about old fashioned vampires set in a modern world then there’s the WVMP series by Jeri Smith-Ready 🙂 it’s a 4 part series, the main character is a con artist who takes a job at a radio station rum by a set of vampires all from different time periods and she obviously runs into a bunch of problems throughout but the main one being is she haso to try and save the station from being taken over and keeping the vampires’ real identities a secret. It’s so good! Not enough people seem.to have heard about it. I just re-read the series a couple of weeks ago. wicked Game is the title of the first book 🙂

I just don’t think Harry Potter is for YA category..I still watched the movies in order to understand the books..even my children keep on insisting me to read first..than only watch he movies..

They are classed as YA here in the UK. My 7 year old has just started reading the first one & is loving it!

Siri

Pretty much any book which has a main character under 18 is classified as YA.

Katarina Molander can you tell me if you liked this series or if it’s part of a series?

I’ve been thinking about putting this on my TBR.

1
Katarina

It’s a great series, but I personally prefer Black Magician Trilogy, Traitor Spy Trilogy and Age of the Five Trilogy. As I said, I love all books Canavan’s written. Millenium’s Rule Trilogy (Thief’s Magic is part one) is great, but it’s a bit slower and she’s added some science fiction elements to it.

0
Katarina

@Yannie Do it! She’s a fantastic author. If you start out with “Black Magician Trilogy” (as I think you should if you’re interested in YA), I’d recommend reading the prequel “The Magician’s Apprentice” first. It’s a stand alone prequel set way before BMT and it explains a lot of the mysteries you’ll encounter in BMT.

0
Yannie

Thank you Katarina Molander. I will start with that one.

1
Yannie

It has to be on my TBR list though lol.
