The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule was nightmarish. It’s a true crime book about Ted Bundy. Scary guy!

I love true crime, now I have to find this!

1
Julie

@Jennie I love Ann Rule. True crime is my favorite. I can’t imagine working with someone you find out later was such a savage person. The most twisted true crime I’ve read are about Ed Gein. Really sick stuff.

0
Jennie

@Julie, Ann Rule is my favorite true crime writer. The Stranger Beside Me actually gave me nightmare! That dude was twisted! You have any other authors you like that writes true crime?

1
Julie

@Jennie I have not found another author like Ann Rule. I will look for books about a specific killer and read those. I have every book Ann Rule has written and have read them at least twice. The 3 killers I have studies are (my 1st choice) Charles Manson, Ed Gein and Wayne Gacy. I spent 13 years in WI. Some of the most evil killers grew up in or spent time inWI (Gacy, Dahmer, Capone and Gein). I blamed the cheese.

0
Jennie

@Julie, have you read this?

Julie

@Jennie yes. I’ve read almost everything about Manson. Society needs to figure out the warning signs of deviant people or there will be more Mansons, Dahmers Bundys. I wanted to work for the BAU from jr high. We need to figure these people out.

Not sure I’ve come across any and horror is my favourite genre. But I guess the paranormal can be quite scary. But Graham Masterton can be quite creepy. Prey was good. Charnal House. The Manitou series.

@Charlotte this is on my list – is it good?

0
Charlotte

Oh yes it is. However, it is important to know that it includes a father abusing his daughter before you begin as otherwise it comes as an extremely sickening surprise. Having said that, both my husband and I couldn’t put it down. Its one of those unusual thrillers that is composed by someone who can actually write.

0
Emma

@Charlotte thank you for the warning – I think I was aware when I put it on my list, but it’s v kind of you to warn regardless. And good to know it’s worth reading too. I’m not a big thriller reader but will move this up the list on your rec. thanks again.
