@Jasmine I second that. I’m a twihard and proud of it

1
Jasmine

The entire series will forever have an emotional hold on me. Twihard for life!

1
Kirsten

I think way more people liked it than didn’t like it. The ones who didn’t were just louder. ?

1
Hollie

@Jasmine but did people really hate the books, or just the movies? Because I feel like it was mainly the movies.

3
Jasmine

@Kirsten
That’s actually a really good point! Lol

1
Jasmine

@Hollie
I know a lot of people that hated the books because of how “annoying” Bella was. But those people also decided to read the books after the movie was popular soo I feel like that makes the their experience a bit different

Twilight got my nephew to start reading, so I love them.

I’m one of those who hate that book ? Book 1 was okay but there was no point for me to read the rest of the series bec I kind of hate how the author wrote the book.

0
Savannah

@Cheyenne I liked the series too ?

1
Cheyenne

Cassandra Hansson I agree the third book was really rushed and I still hate the ending but I honestly do love the series and I really loved the concept

I just finished The Frostblood Saga and really enjoyed it…but have seen that some people didn’t like it at all!

1
Reply
Savannah

@Stephanie I almost got the first one but it sounded like it was basically the same as Red Queen. Was it?

0
Stephanie

@Savannah I wouldn’t say its the same. There’s a pretty big difference in terms of the powers, with frostbloods and firebloods (who actually come from different warring kingdoms). Which isn’t really like the silver bloods or how some red bloods have powers…other than the fact both books have characters with powers. Plus a love story…but that’s rather different as well.

2
Savannah

@Stephanie thank you ?

0
Stephanie

@Savannah you’re welcome! Some of the biggest complaints about the book was that the storyline dragged at certain points or the dialogue wasn’t the best in parts. Which I would agree with to some extent (and overall that seems to be a common critique for a lot of YA fantasy)…but still found it to be a very enjoyable read!

Fever by Dee Shulman. Is about a super smart girl and a virus that appeared many centuries ago, and gave a gladiator a very unusual ability and intelligence, and she now has it. They meet in London 2012 and he thinks he is seeing his dead girlfriend, they look very similar and have many things in common. The bad reviews claim that a girl can’t be so smart AND sing very well AND be pretty.

Shatter Me. In general, it’s loved and popular. But there are a fair few who said they couldn’t get past the first book and hated it. I loved it DESPERATELY and I feel physically offended when someone says they don’t like it ?

I read and loved the Selection series right around the online drama, so I was one of the few at time to give it five stars. It’s been a while since then and most people read it without knowing about the drama so it’s highly rated now, but it wasn’t then and loads of my GR friends have left it a bad review.

3

Savannah

@Kirsti I don’t know about it the drama…. I loved it! Now I’m curious

@Jessica – I think overall the YA genre (specifically fantasy and sci fi) tends to get bad reviews even when they are highly loved books! I have always thought the genre gets too heavily critiqued.

Totally agree about Night Circus!! One of my favorites! I think the people that dislike it actually DNF it and they give up on it too soon! It’s one of those books that doesn’t come together until close to the end and you have to read the whole thing to see the beauty in it.

0
Mia

I haven’t read The Night Circus (I know, I know!) but I LOVED Eleanor Oliphant it was brilliant and truly captures that mental state perfectly imo.

1
ChanningQuestion author

Yes girl, same ♥️ People love to talk about how abusive and problematic it is and how it’s an inaccurate representation of healthy BDSM practices, and yada yada. But I think most people are well aware of that and know these types of relationships aren’t okay in real life. It’s a fantasy. And some people have darker fantasies that others, and that’s okay ??‍♀️
