I liked the movie but the prose is so beautifully written in the book that a movie could never do it justice.

I will go along with Meaghan’s assessment; it was years ago too for me that I read it. It was made into a movie, I think, with Michelle Pfeiffer, but I was disappointed in the movie compared to the book.

Read many years ago. Thought it was a bit bloated, and didn’t love the characters, so it was a miss for me.

It was one of the first heavier contemporary novels I read in high school. It was considered adult so I felt like I was getting away with something. ? my parents were pretty open, I could read what I wanted. Anyway, I loved it and have reread it often.
