No… I read it when I was a teenager and I liked it a lot… But it was such a long time ago : many scripts and stories have since used the same sort of plot… Hence that feeling of déjà vu some may experience…
@Hussain Some were even outraged when The Murder of Roger Ackroyd was published for she “betrayed” the readers’ trust, some said… It’s now classic/monotonous story telling now
Mind you most cozy mysteries are a bit incredulous at the end. The murder obediently shows up to the drawing room to be called out and confess. But And Then There Were Done would serve as a great comedy. It was ridiculous.
Sorry Hussain, let me explain. It doesn’t specifically apply to this book. Many of Agatha Christie’s novels, the novel wraps up when the investigators calls all the suspects together, goes through the crime step by step, reviews the suspects, and identifies the real murderer. Upon which the murdered confesses. Like that ever happens. Cheese, but I still enjoy reading them. And Then There Were None’s ending was just completely ridiculous.
I had the opposite reaction. It’s my favorite Christie book. I kept thinking how creepy it would be to stand outside by the cliffs and look back at the house and wonder if there was a murderer hiding in the house, looking at me, waiting to get me next.
Hey I’m sorry….. I don’t usually do this…… But I did see that you’ve posted almost 6 months ago a pic of a book festival in Lahore….. mind if I ask some questions
One of the most disappointing reads of my life. ?
Did you know that it’s one of the ten most sold books of all time and the highest rated book in the “mystery genre” on goodreads…..
Thanks @Michelle I thought I was the only who hated it
I really feel like she tricked the reader, and not in a twisty, intelligent way.
I didn’t find it at all ingenious

You gotta point… back in the 40s people would find it brilliant

NO! One of her best!!!
@Lee I know it’s her best……. but I just couldn’t like it at all
You must not like Agatha Christie if you don’t like this book.
Didn’t get it?
I liked it. I hated Passenger to Frankfurt and was disappointed with Elephants Can Remember.
It was very “meh” for me. But I liked it on stage!

I didn’t get the drawing room part?

Thanks for writing in!!!
Of course the ending “was” ridiculous
Was this version with or without the epilogue? The “message in a bottle”…?
Yeah the one with the message in a bottle
I liked the book at the play but there are 3 endings out there for it now xx
Read as a kid. Loved it
I read it last year. Loved it!
I love this book with a passion. Can read it again and again
Read it long ago. Loved it.
I must re-read it. Love most of Agatha Christie’s for their simplicity and old world charm. I call it my comfort reading.
Not really disappointed but it could have been better.
I love the book. Until the latest British TV version, I’ve always been disappointed that the film versions copped out with a happy ending.
I really liked this one, right up there with Murder of Roger Ackroid (spelling!) as one of her best.
Read it and really liked it, but it’s not my favorite (that would be A Murder is Announced).
I had the opposite reaction. It’s my favorite Christie book. I kept thinking how creepy it would be to stand outside by the cliffs and look back at the house and wonder if there was a murderer hiding in the house, looking at me, waiting to get me next.
Absolutely loved it!
All of the characters were flawed terribly..that’s the point, I guess,..
I loved this book. Had a good time guessing who the murderer is. Hahaha
I liked it
It was a very interesting read

You can ask me in a private message
I just listened to audiobook narrated by Dan Stevens. Really enjoyed it.
@Abdul…. I’m sorry ?…. I had a couple questions to ask
I loved it! It’s one of my favorites.
I got one who analyzed the book simply from a different purspective. But I forgot the points unfortunately.
I found the book very interesting. But the I like The Murder of Roger Ackroyd the most.
