Please keep going . I love that book . I almost gave up when the little girl grew up , it’s almost like that movie about the girl that lives in Hyatt New York , . It’s worth it . Someone asked what is the point of the story ?. There is no point , it’s gentle and kind and honours the English language . It is about making the most of your circumstances . And if anyone reads the book and doesn’t realise the point , it’s still a lovely story .

Thank you! Kettle on, glasses at the ready – nice break from Christmas decorating for an hour or so, in that case!

It’s about the most charming gentleman caked Count Rostov who has been put under hotel arrest. It’s about the relationships he makes at the hotel and how he embraces his ‘fall from grace’ will class and dignity. Beautifully written but I am finding it slow at the moment.

Called not caked!!!

I have stalled and took a break on this one as well. Glad to hear it’s worth picking back up again!

That happens to me often. Check out populars and find they’re just not my cup of tea. Recently Handmaid’s Tale, The Late Show and The 13th Tale. Maybe it’s just the mood I’m in at the time. Can’t figure it out. Presently into LeCarre’s A League of Spies and enjoying immensely. Weird huh?

The first few chapters are boring as the author sets the stage for the action to follow. It was one of my favorite reads. I loved it. Keep going

My favorite book of the year but I listened. Maybe that would be better. Narrator is wonderful.

I loved it, don’t laugh, it reminded me of a reverse The Little Princess.

Remember, Shirley Temple, the little rich girl that had to go live in the attic?

0
Anne

Oh yes – it’s that kid that lived in New York Hyatt , it became a cartoon

I loved it! The language is so rich, the characters well-developed, and the plot full of surprises. All of this is layered on a very depressing plot premise.

I felt the same way, I read this over a course of a month, I started to like the thought that it was a easy laid back read, a savory story.
